Comment:

Ugh. Speaking as a person who has taken two classes with him(255 and 350), he's moody. Doesn't give helpful feedback on your work either. Also, keep in mind that he likes certain styles more than others. Go to class and don't be late, OR ELSE. Also doesn't understand the concept of personal space(touching). Be prepared if you have him.

Comment:

Semergieff is a very interesting man. My first impression of this class was "I want to drop out". However, as I took his painting class I realized that he was only trying to help me through his crazy critiques. If you're looking for a clear grader... he's not the guy for you. Also, he doesn't like technology (no email, no Blackboard, and such).

He's very critical and always tries to find ways to improve your painting. Some people aren't very fond of his constant criticism but it's actually very helpful. He is a fair grader. If you do all the homework and classwork, you'll do fine in his class. Overall a good art professor. I would recommend him.

He's very open to everyone's art. He might sound critical, but it's only because he want to push you to keep doing better. No exams, grades are based on HW(how much effort you put in), and class work. Final is a portfolio check of 8 pieces of work that you did during the semester. Quiet a work load. 3hrs a class,and twice a week.

He is an awesome and extremely helpful professor. Now only does he know his stuff, but he genuinely wants each student to improve and become their best. As far as I can tell if you have commitment and do not constantly come in late it's pretty hard to get on his bad side. Also, a tip for you guys, TALK during critiques, be as helpful and talk as mu

He's a fair grader, will look at effort put into work. Don't get on his bad side (always late for class) and do your hw. There are always makeup for hw so if you miss any, its ok. The class gets boring sometimes though since it is three hours long.

Not an easy professor, but is a fair grader. He will respond to the level of dedication you have, as he takes his job seriously. Truly understands Drawing...and if you work hard, this prof. will absolutely improve your drawing and painting abilities. I have even seen this happen in talentless people...but if you know whats up definitely take him

This guy is annoying. He screams really loud in your ear so the whole class can hear him and he's WAY too detailed for a foundations class.
