Took Archetype Dream and Symbol class, it was a huge mistake. He assumed we had prior knowledge of the topics discussed when there was no prerequisite required. He grades very harsh, there is a quiz almost every class period that is incredibly specific and difficult even if you did the required hours of reading. Cancelled class, rarely notified us.

There was a lot more reading than intended, quite unrealistic expectations in my opinion. Also, there was a quiz almost every class. Dave canceled class quite frequently, which was frustrating at times. The papers were graded very harshly. Overall, this class was not for me due to the reading, grading, and teaching style.

Worst Prof ever!!Would expect you to read 50+ pages a night and then he had quizzes on the 50 pages and it was on the dumbest stuff it felt like sometimes the questions were "what color was the book the main character was reading" it was not basic stuff you got from reading. Also canceled class all the time so would have 100 pages to read DONT TAKE

Very knowledgeable. Nice guy. Most homework and tests are easy, as long as you complete your reading assignment. Sometimes he is a tough grader when it comes to essays. I had an A until the final essay and my final grade was a D. In his defense, I has some missing. But to drop the whole grade that much? I will never know if it was legitimate...

As long as you are a good reader, and attend class regularly you will do well. His midterms and the final are take-home, which is nice. It all comes down to keeping up with the readings. If you can't handle that, this is not the class for you.

Would never take his classes again. A huge issue is he refuses to use D2L, or just update grades in general. I was unable to find out my grade until he put the final grade up, still not on the D2L so there was no way for me to know what I revived on my final essay. An essay that was not well explained, so was a difficult piece to write.

Lots of reading, but enjoyable subject matter. Lectures are interesting and he often ties the books to a movie. Really easy class if you attend everyday and keep up with the reading.

Worst teacher I've ever had. He is rude, and makes a three credit course seem like a 6. It's nearly impossible to get an A on your essays. Every paper you get back form him will smell like stale cigarettes. You are expected to read about 50 pages a day for his class and if you don't read you will fail.

He's very understanding and is willing to work with you if things happen in your life. There are a lot of quizzes but as long as you keep up on the reading you'll do fine. Do the discussion exercises they will help you on the mid term and final exams.

I had to get 10 different paperbacks for class but it is possible to rent them or get them for free someplace. He has EASY daily tests. I enjoy reading, and liked the books, as well as coming to class to talk about them. If you donĂ¢€™t like to read this class is not for you. Over all it was fun and I would take another class with him.

A LOT of reading! Read at home, lecture in class, tests based on reading. Two Take-home exams essay-based, very strict essay grader! Take your time on the essays for sure. Too much reading for me, got very boring. By the end of the semester, I couldn't wait to be over. Good lecturer, very passionate. Buy the Keith Baines version of Le Morte DArthur

I took Dave Driscoll for six classes at LSC (Children's Media, Bible as Literature, Scott & Coens, Three American Directors, Folklore, and Arthurian Legend) and I have to say that he's one of the best teachers at LSC. He knows his stuff, has a passion for what he is teaching, and is very articulate.
