Not many students would share my opinion, but I liked Dr. Gorman's class. We got to read interesting texts. His lectures, while dry at times, were insightful. Nothing was online, so all homework was old-school. It was a refreshing contrast from being on the computer hours a day for other classes.

Comment:
300A was a waste of time with Gorman. He is unprepared, rude, and very set in his own ways. He doesn't like the required texts he chose, and disses them frequently. We do many RANDOM activities in class, and I often leave his class feeling very frustrated. I am not a better writer because I took this class, or because of Gorman.

Extremely boring, no clear grading rubric; each class period he goes over what was read literally He will read from the book; never took attendance yet he managed to give an attendance grade

Gorman takes fifteen minutes to say what could have been said in one sentence. He leaves a lot of feedback on essays, but has left rude comments on papers that have been given a B. I did not get anything from this class and would not recommend it to other students.

Loved how he laughs at his own jokes. Grading was tough but fair in my opinion. He's strict on grammar, but I think that made me a better writer. He's a hoot, and I'll be back for more next semester.

He is a very strict grader and gives little to no feedback on the grade you received. If he dose give feedback it comes off as rude. He has a almost silent class were no one talks. Weekly writing reports and readings that are only vaguely explained the first week. I love English courses and he makes me hate it like I never thought possible.

Comment:
He is so picky, ENGL 110 is a literature class and I expected some writing but not this much. All I am graded on is how well I write even though it's a literature class. I even go to the writing center and then turn my papers in and he still says I make so many mistakes. DO NOT take him for Engl 110, this class is way too hard for a 100 lvl course.

This was by far the easiest class of my whole semester. Readings everyday but they're short since they're plays. Dr. Gorman is a goofball and an easy grader. If you are interested in the subject you will do fine in the class. I can't imagine it would be an easy class to blow off though. I would definitely recommend Dr. Gorman and the class.

Bible as lit was an interesting class with him. He can be a bit offensive if you're uptight. Paper and homework weren't too difficult but we had to read quite a bit for each week. Sounds like Alby from the movie Annie Hall. Goes off on random tangents often.

Comment:
His approach to teaching a class about science fiction was unclear and disorganized. He spends most of the class digressing and does little interpretations about the text. He seems motivated to help students improve their writing; however, his comments are vague. Disappointing class.

I hate Shakespeare, and was dreading it as a summer class, but Gorman managed to make it palatable for me (even enjoyable). He is an easy grader. Just Sparknotes all the plays, be a good writer (necessary for success with him) and you'll do fine ;)

Dr. Gorman was a funny guy but a very hard grader without any explanation to his grades. He wasn't very helpful at all. Would not recommend him to anyone.

He voices his opinions on what he teaches, like he states clearly he does not like poetry, but he still teaches it in a fun way. What he wants on papers is a little obscure, but he is available for questions. His quizzes aren't bad at all.

Both classes (200 & 400 level) were easy yet boring. Never read one book in either but listened to his rants and regurgitated them on tests. There are five question quizs every Monday. I did badly on most of them but still got a decent grade considering. Don't show up Fridays! He only prepares for two days and rants about nothing every Friday!

I had him for a Tolkien class, and he HATED the books and said it wasn't literature and used every opportunity to run it into the ground and I thought it was dumb that somebody who didn't respect the art felt the need to teach a class on it and bash it

He was amusing, his book selection was a little... obscure (i.e. no one would buy them back since no one uses them) ... but other than that, he is a little crazy but funny, and pretty easy in grading.
