I took SPAN 308 with Profe Zandstra. The material we went over in class was very difficult, but thanks to her, I was able to do well in the class. She is the sweetest and most caring person ever.

Comment:

Zandstra is really nice, but sometimes hard to connect with. She doesn't make you feel stupid if you get an answer wrong and is very gracious. If you're coming into this class from HS, you better understand spoken Spanish well. Even the grammar is taught in Spanish and that is very difficult sometimes. Overall a sweet lady and understanding.

Comment:

A sweet lady most of the time, but she's awkwardly animated and hard to connect with. She's very passionate about what she's trying to teach but fails to teach it well. She is not engaging in class, and pauses forever if no one is answering a question she asks. A ton of work, but she grades easy. Overall, just a bad class and an OK prof.

This prof is so sweet. But she teaches like the students are kindergartners. We listened to songs and went so slow. Nice if you don't have much Spanish, but annoying to go over. Not very nice to athletes. She was going to take off points after so many absences (even though they were sport related)and my coach had to tell her she can't do that.

Love this prof! She's really nice and very helpful. Stay on your toes because the syllabus is confusing and always changing. Tough grader, but good if you understand the concepts.

eh, not bad. Class was pretty boring, and we didn't have much of a chance to interact with one another in Spanish. I wish she had spoken more Spanish in the class, as in the whole class almost entirely in Spanish and English only for clarification when necessary. But it was alright. just boring. I would get Pablo instead :)

Professor Zandstra is fun. She likes the subject, hence she's the chair of the Spanish department. She definitely cares about the students and is not out to get anyone. She is always open to talks and likes questions. Does not assign too much homework, nor is she a harsh grader. If you have the chance, take one of her classes.

SUCH A NICE PROF!! She is a sweetheart who has a passion for spanish. She's funny, caring, and always willing to help. Wants her students to do well. Little tough on papers but every prof is so don't worry. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HER!

Zandstra's a great person, and a good prof, though sometimes disorganized. Full of stories; made me laugh daily. Really knows her stuff and is very helpful one-on-one. Don't be afraid to ask questions in class; she'll breeze on through if no one stops her to ask for clarification. Take her. She's fun.
