Probably the most caring professor at UVM, ever. He is really invested in his students well being and their academic success. He can kind of go on tangents, but they're funny. Class participation matters, but he is understanding about attendance.

A genuinely caring professor who is invested in his students and wants to see them succeed. You'll get the most out of this class if you participate! Also, the idea of the Skepticism TAP is to question the beliefs that people often feel strongly about, so be prepared to have lots of your opinions challenged. It's the entire point of the class.

I took TAP: Skepticism with Don and really enjoyed the class... His lecture's are interesting and the topics covered made this the only class I liked going to. However, he is a tough grader, and assigns a lot of papers. I would recommend Don, & this class to anyone interested in a new and challenging way of thinking in a comfortable environment

One of the most useful classes I've ever taken. Don is somewhat of a troll but he makes you think & teaches you so many useful lessons that span beyond philosophy. I usually left class very agitated, but in retrospect I know that this was part of the learning process. He's also SO helpful advised me as best he could even though I'm a music major.

I had Ear Lobe back in Fall 14 for a TAP course, just getting around to the rating now. He is hands down my favorite professor I've ever had. Very knowledgable and passionate on the subject. He can turn on anyone to new ways of thinking. He's also very cool just to sit around and chill with, knows how to trip you out. Also great taste in music.

D is one of the coolest and most compassionate people I know. He is crazy busy yet somehow makes himself available for anyone in need of some help with school or life problems. Also, I want to add that yes he has opinions, he is human. Still, he hides them well and is open to hearing any others. The class is fascinating, hilarious, and manageable!!

Don is literally the sweetest man alive. He is so caring for his students. I met him on admitted students day while he spoke about logic and desired to take a class since. Now I am finally in his Philosophy of Law class which he makes incredibly interesting.

Don deserves a hot pepper, my class would agree. He also thinks so. He is a very intelligent guy, who happens to be very opinionated and loves himself, but it isn't a bad thing. He isn't afraid to tell you what he thinks. He grades fairly, his classes are informative and entertaining, and he is hilarious. I highly suggest any class with him.

don is a comedic and intelligent professor, who grades according to what he thinks you should know. office hours are incredibly helpful, and if you go to the review sessions for the exams, you'll get an A. Just ask him every part of every question, outline it, and then memorize your outline.

I learned nothing except that Don has the largest ego of all time. His tests are on his opinions. He interrupted me constantly. I left every class infuriated.

As a professor Don is awesome. I learned a lot in this class! As a person: He goes on tangents, can be rather opinionated to the point of being an ass, and made fun of the way one student pronounced words. He also tries to show how much he cares about 'student' issues though it sometimes felt forcedcreepy. Take him and make up your own mind.

Don is on my list of top 5 most influential people in my life ever. He was a great teacher, and totally helpful and understanding. I didn't always go to class but studied like crazy (GO TO THE REVIEW SESSIONS) and got a B. The world would be a better place if everyone had to take a class with him. So do it.

A friend who had Don previously urged me to take his class, & I was not disappointed. This was by far my favorite class, & Don is an incredible teacher. His top priority is making sure you understand the material & are enthusiastic about it, & he makes it easy to be so. I definitely recommend to anyone who is even remotely interested in philosophy.

Don is a great teacher. He can be arrogant & gotistical, but he's awesome. He'l meet with you outside of class, he's very flexible about assignments, and he's an all around cool guy. He's happy to give you both his home and cell number and willing to chat or text any time. I would definitely recommend taking a class with him. Tip: GO TO EVERY CLASS

If you are looking for a philsophy class that makes you think for yourself, critically evaluate, and expand your horizions, DO NOT TAKE DON'S CLASS. To do well, take a tape recorder to class, record his lecture, and regurgitate exactly what he says, and you'll do great! He's sarcastically funny, quite arrogant, and very closed minded.
