basic break down: 3 books, each get a 3.5-4.5 page essay, in class mid term and in class final both timed writing about the books you read in class. 1 presentation in class (10minutes), and an 8 page research paper (your choice). READ THE BOOKS, USE CORRECT FORMAT, PARTICIPATE. super nice, just drifts in thoughts at times.

Baumler is amazing in that she's completely insane in that she's insane about making sure her students not only understand how to write, but she wants us to become practiced professionals in writing. She's always around to ask questions and as long as you don't give her crap, she'll like you a lot. Open to extra credit if you ask her. Wont offer.

Donna is a gift to NP. Work load is semi-light but what is expected should be done to highest potential. She's very knowledgeable, knows everything! DB makes herself very available to her students, unlimited office appointments on any subject. Unlimited rewrites and she helps you thru every assignment, you just gotta ask! Don't buy the handbook.

baumler is my goddess. her class is hard but she is an incredible woman to work with (its hardly a teacher-student relationship, she makes you feel like academic peers). shes an inspiration to all scholars and i truly wish i could take more and more classes with her 3

Donna is a fantastic human being. her work load is heavy but she is so willing to help every step of the way that it is worth it. i learned more from one semester with donna than i have all my years of english combined. take her and you will not only become a better writer and reader but you will also become a better person. guaranteed.

I took her class based off of a friends suggestion and was intimidated on the first day. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that she wants to do everything she can to help her students, but she makes you feel stupid if you do not understand her and does not like her ideas challenged.

I'll be brutally honest here, I'm not sure I like Donna as a person. I will admit that she is very helpful and gives very good feedback but she is a little rude. She expects everyone to have a love of literature, which I don't at all. If you love books, by all means take her but if you just want to get through Comp II, avoid her like the plague.

Baumler is a great professor overall. She gives students many chances. If you get a grade you don't like on an assignment you can rewrite an infinite amount of times until you get the grade you want. She's a no nonsense woman though if she says something you better listen because she does not like to repeat herself

Professor Baumler is one of the best composition teachers New Paltz has to offer. Her assignments are challenging, but not overly time consuming. She's extremely open to help her students and her grading is completely fair. If you put in the effort you'll get a good grade and class is always insightful and entertaining.

If you're looking for an easy A, don't take her class because she's a tough grader. BUT she is a wonderful, knowledgeable, and passionate professor. She whipped my writing into shape and made it the best it could be. She offers you SO much help with rewrites, drafts and office meetings that if you don't take advantage of them you're a fool.

Took her for both Comps and I ENTIRELY recommend her. She is super energetic and passionate about her material. Yeah, she may but a tough grader but she gives you SO many opportunities to improve with lots of rewrites, drafts and meetings with her. This professor is one of a kind! You are on the edge of your seat waiting for what she will say next. I've taken her classes for 2 semesters now and am looking for other classes to take with her. I can't believe HOW MUCH I LEARNED FROM HER and in SUCH A FUN WAY! The office visits are priceless: ask her ANYTHING -she will help. Just do NOT be late!

She knows what shes doing, and the discussions in class are always fun. However, I feel like she over complicates some things... it is college work, so of course it'l be alot of work, but for a subject I love, I feel a little disconnected and confused... that being said, IF you do the work in a timely manner, you should do well :]
