Comment:

Ellen is the best! Decent amount of homework, three test, one make up test and the final. Also gave us chances to earn extra credit. Math is not my "thing", but having Ellen as an instructor really help me out! Attendance is helpful, because we earned 3 points for class work.

Comment:

Ellen offered extra credit prior to each exam worth 5pts which was basically a practice exam. The homeworks were worth 10pts each and due prior to each exam. The exams were 10 questions each worth 100pts but we were allowed an 8x11 front and back cheat sheet. Friendly hint: if you're unsure of your work on an exam just ask her if it looks right....

Comment:

I usually struggle with math, but Ellen's stats class was one of the best classes I've ever taken. Her lectures are clear and easy to understand and she goes over everything on the test. She provided practice tests with worked out answers (which really helped me), gave opportunities for extra credit, and allowed 1 pagers on tests.

Comment:

If you struggle with math, take Ellen. She lays everything out so clearly, lets you use cheat sheets on exams, and gives practice exams so you know what you're getting into. The amount of homework was very reasonable. Plus, she's nice and approachable. Despite it being easy, you still learn something with her. Highly recommend.

Comment:

Ellen gives you good feedback on what to expect on tests. She gives you pre-test to practice the material that she will cover on the test. The homework is also a reference to the test material. I really like the way she explains during lecture because I was able to get good and clear notes for my homework.

Ellen is a great teacher and overall great person as well. I use to hate statistics but, she made it super enjoyable. Her notes are mostly homework problems but, come in handy so much! Her test are only 4, including the final but, you get to use a study guide for them which is nice!

I took her class and barely showed up and passed. She is pretty slow when going over the coursework but it's really helpful. As long as you go to every class you should be able to pass. She lets you bring a page of notes to the tests.s

I thought I would never get through Stats but Ellen was wonderful. She explains things so clearly and truly helps you get through. She is kind and intelligent and is very fair. She is one of the best professors I have had at Cabrillo. I would highly recommend taking stats with her if you want to learn the math and enjoy class.

She can move fast,and sometimes hard to keep up with.However,she is very willing to help.Her teaching is average,but her accommodations are excellent.No quizzes,homework is worth little.4 tests,including final,she lets you use one full page of notes,front and back on each test.Allows 1 test makeup,practice tests with problems worked out are online.

Ellen is an excellent teacher! I highly recommend her! I was so afraid of statistics before I took her class...she made easier and understandable!Excellent teacher!!!!!!!!

She is a very sweet lady. There was times when I needed help with homework and she would stay after the class all left to help me understand how to do the work.(night class) If you have the time take her. I was scared of this math 12 but she helped me gain my confidence. It's a great class but don't slack off on homework because it does take time

Ellen Venable breaks down the lesson into a more accessible practice.She spends the time to make sure you get what you need to apply statistics logically and accurately,with adequate,thoughtful, homework and Excel assignments;The ability to makeup tests.Also, her most resolute virtue is that she stays with every one of her pupils until you get it.

Comment:

I never would have been able to under stats without Ellen! She is CRYSTAL clear and she knows how to visually explain math to non-math brains. She is a very fair teacher- no tricks on exams, hw is appropriate and she handpicks which questions to give. She allows one cheat sheet for exams (saves your life in statistics. SO MANY FORMULAS!)

Comment:

She was a great teacher! First time I have ever felt smart in a math class. She is very understanding and explains things well, and willing to help. Four tests, the final is really the last few chapters, and she lets you have a page of notes/formulas for each test. Plus one remake if you did bad, and she'll keep the test you did better on.
