I had absolutely no interest in history, and definitely not in the scientific revolution (the class I had him for), but Professor Ash changed my mind. His lectures were in-depth, engaging, and more educational than I can say. I just about burned a hole in my keyboard taking notes, but those notes gave me everything I needed to get a good grade.

Dr. Ash is the best professor at Wayne State. Not only does he truly care about his subject matter, he cares about the success of his students as well. His lectures are very exciting and intriguing, and they will definitely steer you away from the typical dull history class. If you don't like history now, I promise you will after his class.

Ash is a fair and overall good professor. PowerPoints only had pictures, so note taking was a task. There is A LOT of reading, as you are expected to read entire books within a week for class discussions. The book readings were more time consuming than anything, as you are only graded by participation, the midterm, the term paper and the final.

This was one of my last gen ed classes at Wayne, and I wasn't super excited about having to take history. Dr. Ash does a very good job with his lectures. He is very enthusiastic and understands that it is a gen ed so he does his best to make the class relate-able. I didn't read much at all for this class and got an A. I would highly recommend him.

Here's the thing-- growing up I was never a fan of history but Dr. Ash has changed that by a milestone. His lectures are something you don't want to miss, only because it's like listening to awesome stories all hour. Taking him is the best decision you'll ever make

Honestly at the best teacher I've ever had in college. History class is actually very interesting with him. 2 papers and 2 exams all with detailed exact study guides so getting a good grade is not hard. The best part by far is that you will actually love the subject I never cared for history but not I honestly wish I had to take more than one class

Dr. Ash was actually pretty funny. He tries to crack jokes when it's necessary. Also, I just got a 91% on my history final. I would have never gotten that with a different professor. Just study for your tests with his study guides and you'll get an A guaranteed.

Honestly, the best teacher I've ever had. He's very good at explaining material and making it interesting for everyone, all you need to do is show up to his awesome lectures and take good notes. Also pay attention to the primary sources, textbook itself isn't relevant. Amazing class, I 10000% recommend him above any other professor.

This was the best class I have ever taken. Dr. Ash is a great professor. His lectures were detailed, fascinating, and exciting so you don't feel burdened coming to class, by any means. The work load isn't too bad- just study, keep up with assigned readings, and you will do fine. I would retake this class if i could- it was just so good!

Dr. Ash is a great lecturer, he is extremely enthusiastic and makes class interesting. Attendance isn't necessarily mandatory but you are expected to go and it'll benefit you immensely to show up to class and take thorough notes on the lectures. There is a lot of note taking, weekly reading assignments, two papers, and two tests.

Professor Ash is the best professor I've had at WSU, as a senior now I've had plenty of other professors. Read everything he assigns--don't be lazy, attend his lectures they're actually enjoyable. Take notes! If I hadn't declared my major I would have been a history major instead because of him--that's how great he is!

He is an amazing lecturer and when asked a question in class he takes time and explains the answer in full detail. However, the class is set up more like a 4 credit class. There was 2 papers, write in exams that have to be in paragraphs, two 3 page essays and weekly readings which can be 100 pages. Ash is a great teacher but its a ton of work!!

By far the best professor I've ever had. He is tough but fair. come to class, take notes, and do the readings. You'll be fine if you just do what you're supposed to, this is college after all! If you have an interest in the subject then you should have no problem receiving an A, don't pass this guy up!

Dr. Ash is what every teacher should strive to be. If there were more people in the world like him, the world would be a much better place. brilliant, passionate, extremely organized, professional, understanding, beyond enthusiastic. If it weren't for him, I would be dropping out of WSU. Genuinely sad that I dont need any other classes he teaches.

This was the best class I have ever taken in college. Like the ratings have said, your grade really depends on the TA you have so I recommend Maria Wendeln if you're taking the History 1300. She is a fair grader and always makes herself available. Dr. Ash was an amazing professor, his lectures were funny and he really knows his stuff.
