Cook sensei is fantastic! I struggled a lot during the class but she was more than willing to help me outside of class, as she was with all her students. She gives plenty of extra credit chances, she's supportive, and she is really funny. My love for the Japanese language was rekindled during her class. Absolutely recommend!

Comment:

She's a tough grader and gives daily homework, but she's funny and super sweet. I loved being in her class and she really treats everyone kindly no matter how annoying they are. She's super funny and cracks jokes every class which makes it interesting. Class was average difficulty for me even though I learned this all in HS. Be prepared to speak.

I honestly had completely lost interest in Japanese and was excited to have it over with when I signed up for this class, but she really made me love it again! The only reason I'm not taking 202 next semester is because she isn't teaching it. I've been taking Japanese since middle school and she's the best teacher I've had. She's also hilarious.

Cook sensei is so adorable and fun that going to class doesn't feel like a chore. She knows what she's talking about and does her best to make things interesting. There is definitely a loot of work involved and time that needs to be invested in the class but it's to be expected.

Sensei is by far the best professor here at Chapman, bar none. She not only cares so much about her students, she is so willing to give everyone an A if you prove that you are hardworking and dedicated to learning Japanese. She is also hilarious and a great friend. Take her without a doubt!!!

I took Sensei's kanji class this semester and it's kind of hard, but there is so much help that you can get from the J-club or from her office hours. You'll have a lot of fun in the class. It was structured so that on Mondays Sensei'd teach us that week's lesson and on Wednesdays we'd practice calligraphy. Quizes are weekly. She's great!!

Instead of taking any class with Cook Sensei, devote some time begging the language dept. for a decent Japanese teacher. I loved Japanese before I started taking JPN classes at Chapman. I haven't learned a thing, despite the constant, useless busy work. Do yourself a favor and don't bother with Japanese at Chapman. Sad but true.

Sensei is one of the best teachers at Chapman, and certainly in the language dept. Day in and day out she works hard to teach her students Japanese. She takes time out of her personal life to teach non-req. classes and help with the club. God help the language dept. and Japanese program if she ever leaves.

Sensei is hilarious! If you act stupid in class, she'll make fun of you, but not in a mean way. She moved slow through material but thats only because there were slow people in class. She adapts her teaching to the class, and that's a good thing. I like her a lot!

Awesome professor. She makes it very easy to learn and really wants you to do well. The outside of class activities (Japanese Club) really help out with learning the language and with completeing your assignments (especially interviews) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
