So I found the class extremely easy. The only issue is that he is not very understanding of human error on his part. I recommend going to the help sessions run by the other chem prof if you feel like hes not your fit for a professor. Just know there are definitely other options than him.

As someone who has been out of this terrible school for years, assuming things haven't changed since my time, everyone who blames Garafalo for bad grades should understand that his class is easier than chemistry in a lot of other colleges. Also I agree that if you read the book outside class, you pretty much don't need to even go to the lectures.

His lectures are designed to get you to REALLY understand the material. If you don't go, chances are you'll be fine but personally, I never missed a class and I wouldn't suggest you do either. It's a bit hard being in a "class" of 250, but he still tries to be accessible to everyone. I loved this class.

He is nice and actually kinda funny but he is extremely serious about the subject. If you don't read the chapters then when you go to class you will be completely lost. His exams are insanely difficult. They are worded so you have to read it multiple times, he also puts answers that are for if you were to do the problem using the wrong formula.

Easy A if you get a 5 on AP exam. I go to every class at the beginning expecting to learn something new, but I already know them ALL. After I stopped going to the lecture, I only watch the class record in 2x speed and do the practice problems, and still got 100% on the following midterm. He speaks super slow so don't waste your time on the lecture.

If you read his book, do the questions at the end of each chapter, go to class+help hours then you will be okay. His class is challenging but he is hilarious, not nearly as bad as everyone makes him out to be, and extremely helpful. Takes a while to adjust to his test but once you got it, you're good. Don't go into the class with negative thoughts!

garafalo gets bad rating because a lot of the kids that get accepted here aren't cut out to be sceince majors. don't be scared by the bad reviews. he is an amazing teacher. If you read his textbook you're golden. if you read before every class, go to class, do the problems at the end of every (incedibly short) chapter, go to extra help, easy A

You have to buy the book he wrote, lots of nonsense in it. The only grades are tests so if you dont do well youll fail . The lab also helps a little so try to do really well in there. No extra credit. He uses very tricky wording to try to make you mess up.

A lot of ppl dislike him, some even failed his class, he is not that bad. His classes are hard but that's college, I just wish his tests wouldn't have so much information; it is really hard to earn an A in his class. His tests are only 20 points so if you miss like 3 you have a B+ so try to do really well on the lab so it can make ur grade higher

You need to study in order to get an A. I liked his own textbook, since it is all you need to read for the exams(it may be hard to understand, but his lectures will help). Study his textbook carefully and take notes of his lectures. As long as you try, you will be fine.

Garafalo's class and the entirety of General Chem is not fun, but everyone has to do it. The class is directly focused around the course notes and the lectures are just reiteration of his self-written book so lectures aren't really a big deal. You need to read the textbook in good detail and do all problems to get good grades on any tests.

Though many have had mixed opinions about Professor Garafalo, I believe he is an execellent professor especially for new students at the university. Being a student of Garafalos has taught me to be self-sufficient in understanding various concepts. After all, to become a pharmacist, I will have to learn from more lecture heavy classes soon.

If you don't like his lectures, he wrote the book too so you're screwed. Chemistry is easy, he makes it hard. Lectures are incredibly confusing and his book isn't much help. Switch to Depierro, his lectures are much easier to follow, but you still have to deal with Garafalo's DENSE book. P.S. Khan Academy will save your grade.

Tough class not gonna lie, you have to put in work, but an A is completely possible. Give lots of time to this class and MOST IMPORTANTLY, READ THE TEXTBOOK. Excluding exam days I only went to one Chem class. You don't 'NEED' (U should tho) to go to class to get an A but YOU NEED TO READ THE CHAPTERS CAREFULLY AND DO QUESTIONS AT THE END, CORRECTLY

Terrible teacher. Unless you're a chem genius, expect a minimum of a B-. Test are 80% of your grade. Lots of reading. Would become a drop out before taking this course again

As an international student, I totally like his class than others because he explain all the things slowly and clearly. if you listen carefully in his class and go over all the materials after class then do the all the problems at back of each chapter, it's easy for you to get an A. Actually I had never gone to help hours, so I don't know about it.

Read. The. Book. Dr. Garafalo literally wrote the entire textbook he references in class. It would behoove you as a student to absorb that information if you want to succeed in this class. It doesn't matter if you want to be a chemist, it's solid information and it needs to be learned. Also, this guy cares more about your success than you.
