When the quarter started, I though he has spent too much time yelling why abortion is a basic right. After seeing Alabama's anti-abortion law, I wish everybody can listen to him yelling. Not only because the wrongfulness of the law, but people should see how men are also actively defending the rights.

Professor means well, and "individually", his class is fair and reasonable. In comparison to other professors, this class is unfair: Insane amount of reading compared to other professors, just to get a B (where others are "easy A"). TAs look for specific words and tough graders, and structure is confusing. No clear regrade policy if you disagree.

I like Doppelt as a person. I really do. But I strongly disagree with his teaching style. Have to buy the $70 reader off campus when other profs would provide pdfs. His midterm and final are very nit-picky, and demand very detailed answers. Takes attendance. Discussions have quizzes. Appealing answers is near impossible. His lectures are okay.

You will have three papers, one due each month. Prompts are clear and "very" specific which is helpful. If you attend class, you can essentially write your entire essay based on your notes. Don't be intimidated, it is a great class with a great professor. Work hard and you will do well.

He is very good at summarizing our readings and making clear points. Lectures were not boring. However, you need more skills and eloquence in writing. Prompt often tells you to summarize, but it really means to write your own analysis using the reading material. Am I the only idiot who spent days and nights to write his paper and still got a B?

First things first, this class is objectively hard. You are really against the curve here, don't take it if you are already having GPA problems (yes, I'm looking at you pre-meds). However, it really is an interesting subject and Doppelt is awesome. Just be careful, because I got an A+ my last CAT class, and now I barely hit the B+. Not easy.

I took his freshman seminar, which I found to be pretty entertaining. He does have a habit of showing up late then going on tangents that lead to class going late. You basically just read a bunch of articles and discuss them and their implications. Doppelt is definitely passionate about his subject which is inspiring. Passno pass.

MUST go to class AND lecture: 10% of grade (you sign an attendance sheet). Professor is very clear about the readings and gives you the main idea of them. You must read the HUGE amount of readings given. Essays are straightforward but its hard to get an A in this class. Midterm and Final are free response. Would recommend the other Prof.

Class is mandatory, no exceptions, he takes roll call. Read or you'll have a hard time passing class. Papers are pretty easy, just summary basically. He's a very active lecturer, yells a lot and uses students to explain things, pretty funny.

Great lecturer - lectures on everything that is relevant, as well as information that may spark genuine interest in the subject matter. Prompts are clear, bullet-pointed, and there is a sophisticated level of analysis expected. Highly recommend TA Vabianna Santos - most organized and helpful TA I've every had. Try to get her for any CAT class!

Very active lecturer, and attempts to keep the class interested. Lecture is a summary of the readings, and is mandatory. Essay prompts can be vague at times, but doable. Essays are also usually just summary of readings. Grade is determined by they TA based on 2 essays and a take home essay final.

Really interesting topics, a lot of reading but it was all insightful and used for the essays. Attendance is mandatory and you have to sit with your ta and discussion section. Grading is based on a scale where only a limited number of people are allowed to receive an A, so good luck trying to get an A.

I had Dr. Doppelt for three classes. He was one of the only Philosophy professors I could actually stand. I also took a seminar on Rawls with him. I do not always agree with what I thought Doppelt's stance was.. he tries to remain neutral.. but I gotta say he is very interesting, clear, and intelligent. I learned a lot.

He dresses interestingly - lots of rings, linen suits. Occasionally yells to make a point. With that aside, he obviously knows the readings and does a good job of laying out the arguments that the various authors make in their essays. He takes attendance, which is annoying because lecture isn't that necessary. The topics are moderately interesting.

Lecture is just a reiteration of the reading, but his miderms and finals, watch out. If you are not a fast writer you might wanna take it from someone else. He expects 8 pages (1 hour) in a bluebook for the midterm and 16-18 pages (3 hours) for the final!

Jerry really knows his material. His lectures always cover the book, and can seem quite dense, so you must pay attention. there is a LOT of reading, and the papers are pretty difficult, so make sure you do the readings and keep in contact with your TAs. The instructions for papers are very vague, so ask questions if you have them.

Enjoyed this class the most last quarter. Lectures were always interesting and were always helpful to draw from when writing essays. Interesting topics and I appreciated how you were able to choose your essay topics and take them home. The essay topics practically provided an outline for your essays. Very straightforward. Did the work got an A.

Interesting class with interesting material. Gives you a different look at the US healthcare system and the problems that arise from it. His lectures are essential, they clear up the difficult readings. 2 papers and an in class midterm. Grades depend on the TA, grades will suffer if you get a bad TA.

Doppelt is a man who loves the sound of his own voice. He spends his lectures repeating the exactly contents of the assigned readings, with the addition of his own jokes, which always fall flat. Although the lectures are completely useless, he insists on taking attendance. Class subject matter ranged from mildly interesting to totally irrelevant.
