He taught a VERY difficult class... and he wasn't the best at it. He always seemed to be in a big rush, and it was hard to concentrate on what he was saying between writing down what he had on the board. :0

Nt the easiest teacher i have ever had but by far one of the BEST. I got a C in his calculus class but learned sooo much! i re-took the class with another teacher and passed with over 100% because Dr. Payne had taught me so well. I would take another one of his classes again... as long as my gpa does not rely on it.

I went in to his class knowing absolutely NOTHING about Calculus. I came out with a B, knowing more than I ever thought possible. He was by far the best math teacher I've ever had based on the fact that I was forced to LEARN the subject, not just memorize abstract formulas, only to forget them once class ended.

Dr. Payne, I will miss you, seriously this man taught me more in one semester than all of my other math teachers combined! His classes are not for the weak though, only those who truly wanted to learn, learned anything.

omg... this class was wayy too hard~ his name expains it all...he is a really smart person and knows his material. but if you didnt understand something and you wanted to go to a math tutor.. they wouldnt even know what your talking about. he has his OWN method of teaching which can be really difficult to comprehend. you ned 4hrs or more outside of

Gerald is weak;deducts points from solutions that are correct.I got into math 'battles' with him. At one point, we were up all night arguing about Einstein's theory of relativity-he realized he was wrong because he thought time was on the horizontal axis.Stay away unless you are smarter than he is.

Dr. Payne is a good teacher. He teaches you efficient methods to solve problems. Unless you are gifted, you will have to put in some study time. He gave challenging homework that he based his tests of off. He used the text book for reading about the material and also for suggested problems that we did on our own and didn't have to turn in.

His class is not worth the time. He does not explain how he comes to the solutions well. He goes way too fast. When you ask questions, it was usually others in the class who would answer you, as he wouldn't understand what you were asking. He made mistakes really often.

Let's get one thing straight: Payne is NOT a good math teacher. He knows alot about the subject, that's for sure but any math teacher that starts his lecutres by writing out paragraphs about trig functions on the white board is not going to get through to me. GET DAVID SCHULTZ!!!!!!!! Best trig teacher ever.

He is a very difficult teacher. He is realy knowledgable, however he does not express his knowledge well. You will use the book alot because in order to learn anything in the class you must read it. If you ask questions he will embarass you and make you feel stupid. However, if you meet him in his office he is much more helpful. I reccomend SCC.

If you are not good at math do not get this teacher. His tests are extremely rigorous. SO long and SO hard. He makes you memorize EVERYTHING for the test. There is some homework. He's not a mean guy by anymeans, but he's a retired nuclear physicist and expects his students to know and be as good at math as he is.

Terrible. Seems more interested in showing you how much he knows & how little you know, than teaching you the things you need to know. He seems to be trying to fail 1/2 of the class. I am a 3.9GPA engineering student, but never got above 40% in his class. Tests require far more time than is allotted: plan on not finishing. Text is mediocre.

Best teacher you will ever have. Only take him if you are serious about learning. If you plan on trying to just coast through this class you're in for some serious harm. If you do start and find you can't hack it out you should stay in and try. He will let you drop the day of the final.

The absolute worst teacher for calc III IN THE WORLD! If you ask a question in class he will make you feel stupid. He thinks he's a math genius and always talks about the fancy vacations he takes. Payneful class. RUN!!!!!!

He's a good teacher, but his test can be hard. In diff eq he gave out a lot of home work which helped offset the so-so test scores. If you want to learn something, he's your guy. If you want to get an A and learn nothing go with someone else.

Teaches a fast and rigorous class. Awesome personality but only take a class with him if you are a science or math major. After his class you will definitely know your stuff and succeed in future math related classes, otherwise you will drown.

Welcome to hell!! Seems like his goal is to fail everyone, gets mad when people ask too many questions or gives smart ass replies and makes you feel stupid for asking. Grades on a slight curve and has a generous withdraw policy but material is very hard and he does not follow the book making it difficult to catch up when (not if) you fall behind.
