Hard grader, expects PhD level writing from undergraduates. He is extremely demanding and VERY hard to please. (He has given a student a negative grade! (?!)) Takes pride teaching a hard course. Your grade does not reflect your effort as it should! You will have to compromise your performance in other classes, so take a light load.

His lectures are entertaining, but I felt that I didn't get as much out of the course as I had hoped for. Most of the material we covered I remembered in high school. I never understood how to do the essays, but I managed to average with a B in them. Online discussions and attendence also matter. Willing to help, but hard to understand sometimes.

A fairly difficult course but if you keep up with the requirements it's fine--Garza's VERY VERY helpful if you go to him outside of class but won't let you get away with not doing the work. Entertaining and clear course requirements.

The man is very smart, but this can prove to be very intimidating (especially if you dont fully understand what is going on). Speaks very fast, sometimes to where you cannot understand what is being talked about. Very inconsistent grader. Very hard grader. Expects PhD level writing for undergraduates.

Interesting lectures. It was actually enjoyable to go to class and listen. The tests made me want to curl up like a beaten dog though. Long essay 8-10 pages typically for a test. Actually taking a break from one right now. Again the beaten dog syndrome
