Such a nice man. He is really laid back and really knows his stuff. All you have are two papers and a small project at the end. He doesn't want you to stress about the class because he wants you to connect to the material. I felt really calm whenever he lectured and he draws funny stick figures on the board.

An all around super kind man. Makes speaking as painless as possible and provides insight that really matters. Would recommend over and over to take him, a really cool person to learn from.

Comment:

Dr. Matthews is amazing. He lets you think about things from your own experience and you really get to learn a lot about yourself and the other people in the class. And sometimes he just doesn't feel like having class so you get a day off, which is an extra bonus! Take every class with him!

Dr. Matthews is really nice and kind of just lets students do their own thing. There wasn't a lot of teaching that happened since it was a speech class and students mostly did the talking, but we always got clear and timely feedback.

Comment:

Professor Matthews was one of the most down to earth and laid back professors I've had. He really makes oral comm painless. He lets you picks your own topic and is a little more "unorthodox" about how he goes about teaching the course. No textbook, no tests, and no homework. Just speeches and he's a pretty easy grader.

I wish I could take this class for the first time again. His lectures on communication were very fun and realistic. He sometimes doesn't use concrete terms but that's because communication can be abstract. He does however have concrete goals/ expectations. He understands people are scared of speaking. The whole class grew together as speakers.

Comment:

Gray Matthews is a wonderful professor who is very causal. He allows topics that interest students AND forms of literature to get points across on how to properly communicate. If you are a shy speaker then I do not recommend his classes. I would retake his classes again :D

Comment:

In his Oral Comm class, he let us choose whatever topic we were passionate about. Topics ranged from organ donation to grilled cheese to pharmaceutical companies to pugs. He kept us intrigued and made us excited to be giving speeches. He was also very understanding and let us re-give a speech if we were sick or over-nervous or anything else.

One of the easiest classes I have taken. We went into the class with a blank syllabus, and we, as the students, filled it in. Class was a no-filter class, so he let us talk about whatever we wanted, and even made activities out of topics. Very fun class. If you are a shy student, you won't be in this class. He makes you comfortable.

I really REALLY liked Professor Matthew's approach in Discussion and Listening class. He lets you know UP FRONT that you will not understand certain aspects of the course at the beginning. If you open your mind and listen to his points you will understand more of what he has to offer. No textbook for class just open your ears! :D

Dr. Matthew's class was fairly simple and an easy grade if you did the work he asked of you. Reasonable length papers and a few other assignments. He grades more for critical thinking rather than for correctness. I would definitely take his class again if I had the chance!

He's one of the coolest professors ever. He's really chill about tardiness and he's understanding if you have to turn an assignment late. He helps you to think outside the box and he makes it fun. Taken him if you can. You won't regret it.

Dr. Matthews is a very helpful and understanding professor. He always tried to make the course material interesting and was very considerate in listening to what every student had to add to the class discussion. Proff. Matthews is a great teacher! Likes his job, but doesn't take it too seriously. Checks for understanding. Works with students and adjusts syllabus if necessary. 1 test and 1 paper. NO FINAL! If you go to class you'll do great.

This guy was great! In this class, there is no final or no exam. All you do is listen! This is the easiet class I've ever taken. He is so warm hearted and really loves what he does. It's an easy A. The only way to fail is to not show up. This guy is awesome!
