Comment:

Gus is a great guy. He gets off topic very easily and his class is not hard. He really knows a lot about art, and has a great sense of humor. He is easily one of my favorite professors at WCU so far due to his humor, laid back class, and how easy he made it. Recommended to anyone who needs an art gen ed.

Comment:

Gus is a really nice guy and comes off to be very strict but he really isn't besides his attendance. I was suppose to get a C in his class but because I only missed one class i talked him into giving me a B. He give two tests that are ten questions each and thats it. Other then that its an extremely boring class but Gus is a good guy

Gus is quite a character. When you first encounter him he comes across as strict but that is all an act. He is a teddy bear! It is so easy to get him off subject especially if you bring up any classic black and white movies. There is work-but that's expected. He'll let you know if it's crap or genius. Good guy!

There are two parts to Gus, and I like both of them. One is the Gus that you first notice?he's always laughing, talking about rodeos or Turner Classic Movies or tango dancing with his wife. The other Gus is a very serious artist who separates those who "get it" from those who don't. He isn't easy, but if you love art you will love Gus.

Very funny guy. Great sense of humor. Makes class fun. VERY EASY WRITING EMPHASIS CLASS. We did 2 (1 pg) assignments that were to explain the projects/homeworks. He doesn't give super clear assignment directions, but it's because he wants you to interpret them. This was hard for me at first, but if you just open your mind you'll do well.

Not what I expected for an art appreciation class at all, but I loved it! Gus is a wonderful man who truly loves his subject; he has a unique sense of humor which, I'm afraid, some of my classmates didn't get. Pay attention at all times - he particularly calls on students who he sees are engaged in non-class-related activities!

Hes a really nice guy and hes funny too. He doesnt give clear instructions for his assignments, so you pretty much have to make it up. There was no textbook or syllabus so you have to go to class. You also have to participate and pay attention cause he randomly calls on ppl. If youre not interested in art, dont take him, if you are he knows a lot.

Ugh! Avoid his scatter-brained methods if you want to retain your drawing skills and sanity. If you think he's a good teacher, you are brainwashed. Time for him to take a long vacation. Also, his own art is childish. I'd be embarassed to display my work if it looked like his. Awful....

a great teacher. Though many people dislike him because he treats you like you dont know anything. You have to prove your ablity to him. and skill is not enought. If your not willing to work hard and able to laugh at yourself then take another class. He is the best painting professor at west chester if you like color.

Gestapo Gus needs to retire.Unclear about what he likes/dislikes & contradicts his own lessons. Torturous and anal is the classroom mood. He needs "helpers" to remind him of things he should do on his own. What grade are we in? Treats his students like peons and has untalented favorite kissups who do little to receive an A.Totally unfair. RETIRE!

Gus is an awesome man. Very intelligent. He can make a bad first impression, but once you get to know him you will really appreciate his way of teaching. If you don't have a sense of humor and can't take constructive criticism then don't take his class =) I got my first A from him.

I can't stand going to his painting class. He picks on you if you're having trouble, completely mortifies you in front of the class. He does this so you look like an idiot I'm guessing? I will never take another class taught by him.
