An intelligent professor who is always open to hearing your opinion/POV, as well as your reasoning. Easy to talk to her both during class and during office hours. She is willing to listen to you and help you when needed. A bit of a tough grader for essays, but not homework assignments... She is very knowledgeable and knows what she's talking about.

Such an incredibly smart woman, really knows how to moderate a conversation, expects a lot from her students, but if you challenge yourself and really want to learn you will do well in her class. Class always flew by. Probably my favorite class after four years at Lafayette.

This class was great! The texts were interesting, and if they were difficult, Silverstein walked through them carefully with the class to make sure we understood the ideas. She's really good at paraphrasing and synthesizing the sometimes rambling points that students make.
