I took her Early Medieval Art class that she was covering this semester for Nees. She was extremely helpful when you asked for it and offered a chance to rewrite our first paper since we didn't know what to expect from her. As long as you talk with her and show interest, participate in class, and keep up on readings, you won't have any problem!

Dr. Lachat is passionate about what she does and expects you to be too. She gives reading assignments (often lengthy) for practically every class period and assigns a heavy workload of written work. Go to her office hours or set up a meeting before turning anything in, because she will give feedback that may save your grade.

I loved Dr. Lachat. She is such a wonderful woman that really cares about her students. She is very accommodating and although she is a tough grader, she offers plenty of opportunities for help and is always willing to meet with you. The lectures are also very interesting, you basically just look at crazy photos and discuss them the whole time.

Do not take this class if it's for a breadth requirement. It's an interesting class but shes condescending and a harsh grader. She also thinks shes hilarious and it gets on your nerves early.

Her Reinventing the Middle Ages colloquium was very difficult. The material was interesting, but she assigns long, pedantic readings. She rarely gives A's. Participation really matters for your grade too. She's really passionate about the Middle Ages, so if you like history, then you'll be fine, but if you don't, then get ready for a long semester!

She's fairly nice although VERY demeaning. She says things like "Clearly...." and "Right..????" and it makes the students feel stupid. She also name drops colleagues that she has worked with and gets very defensive of early medieval art. Honestly....she's a nice person all in all but don't take her class. She'll make you feel inadequate.

she is fantastic. all we did every day was talk about different photos and pieces of artwork. she really enjoys her students opinions so speak up to get extra points. she is really goofy and fun. she is a very tough grader but if you try you should be fine. essays are basically the only grade. no tests. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! its not used at all.

pompous, likes to name drop, has unrealistic expectation, grades harshly, doesn't actually teach, and spends more time bragging about her colleagues whose articles she forces you to read

Her image colloquium was very interesting. The class was challenging because she is a tough grader and is sometimes unclear about what she wants. I enjoyed her as a teacher though because her classes were fun. She's a goofy lady with a Family Guy obsession so the class was always entertaining. If you put in more time on papers you will do fine.

Image colloq: she accurately referred to herself one day in class as "some goofy foreign chick." her accent (swiss) gets stronger as she gets sillier. she is a fairly difficult grader, but if you actually put in a good effort, you can get an A. textbook was pointless, only needed to learn a name or two to use in class so she knows you've read.

I was really excited about the topic of this class but no matter what you do, its impossible to receive an A. If you tried to write the papers in 5 different ways, you will most likely get a B+ no matter what. Very frustrating.

Without a doubt my least favorite professor I've ever had. An absolutely pointless course with an even more pointless professor. Don't take this as a cliche: Avoid her at all costs. Seriously.

This teacher may have an occasional fun class or two, but overall the class was unenjoyable since it required SO MUCH work for only 1 credit. This class was by far my hardest class, even though we only met once a week. Also, the professor DOES NOT give out A's no matter what. Take her if you want a sparingly enjoyable class with loads of work.

Thought this class would be interesting based on description. Nope. Readings are boring and pointless as all you do in class is listen to her talk and giggle (kind of bubbly). Confusing as to what she actually wanted in her essays. Two normal and one research paper. Class is too small though to fall asleep.

Interesting and important course but not the best professor. She likes to ramble some but otherwise brings up fascinating points. Art, Art History, and Art Conservation Majors should all take this course and she is good for it but be patient; good ideas come far between
