Comment:
Professor Andrews is a very nice and good person, and is genuinely passionate about his teachings. But, this is definitely a difficult class that requires hours of work. Weekly quizzes that are often worded very vague and confusing, but he is always open to discussing the problem. Don't take this class as a filler!

This class is awful. He gives you quizzes without teaching you the information and has you learn Greek words when it is not a language class. Also not very organized. Horrible do not take his class.

Andrews is a nice guy but I did not expect his course to be as demanding as it was. A bit of an old fashioned professor in that it's all in your readings and his tests are not multiple choice. All short answer and extended response. If you take his course, make sure to keep up on your readings or you will be lost.

His classical myth class is pretty easy, print off the weekly questions before coming to class and write down the answers he talks about in class discussion and you will have no issues with the class. The quizzes are a little annoying but a lot of them are from Quizzlet, it's a nice class to unwind in and read some interesting stuff in.

The only reason I am posting this is to warn future students. Do NOT take this class to fill for a humanities credit. Only take this class if you are interested in myth. There are quizzes every single class and responses almost every other class. CLAS 2340 in no way helped me with my education. James Andrews is great but the class is extremely hard

Hardest class I have ever taken. That being said, the material is so interesting that you will barely realize it. If you believe you answered a question correctly and can communicate your reasoning, Prof. James will give you credit. If you like philosophy or art, you will love this class. Pasolini's Medea was one of the best films I have ever seen.

Good guy, class is fairly easy but also boring because he goes off on a lot of tangents

Before every class you read and take online quizzes, they're very hard. It's a pretty boring class and all he does is go over the readings. Pretty nice guy though

This class is pretty interesting at first, but Prof. Andrews can get pretty boring sometimes. Sometimes he doesn't exactly know what he's doing either, but I believe our class was the first he was teaching for this course. Quizzes before each class, and the reading isn't that bad most of the time.

I really enjoyed Prof. Andrews' class. I took it over the summer and I found it really interesting. I can understand if people may have been bored but then again I'm not surprised by the level of interest in education these days especially with the people that attend this college

Snorefest. Took it in the summer, spent the entire class just talking about The Iliad, etc. Couldn't help but fall asleep constantly, but at least he doesn't make you wake up.

Dr. Andrews keeps things very easy in the latin course at least. Five hours a week of outside of class studying = A. If you aren't understanding some of the material, go talk to the teacher!!! He is very friendly and helpful one on one. Like any class, the key is keeping on top of the material. If you fall behind it WILL feel overwhelming.

Hes a pretty cool guy, but his tests are a little out there and he expects too much. A question on a test about The Illiad will ask you to recall a person who Helen said hi to while she was taking a dump in Troy and then ask you who the name of the bathhouse she took that dump in was named in honor of. Dont try to get by by reading cliff notes

If you like to have random off the wall discussions that really have nothing to do with the material, then I would deffinetly recomend this class. It's not hard if you already have an interest in the material. Overall he's pretty fun.

He knows his stuff. He makes the class into a big conversation. As long as you like the material, he'll be a great teacher for you.
