Comment:

This class was curved so much; he told us the lowest A he's given was a 70%. I appreciate that, but also wonder why he consistently has to curve it THAT much. You can tell he knows the info, he just does not break it down well for those of us who are less knowledgable. We were supposed to have hw but he never assigned it. Only 4 grades went in

Comment:

Doesn't even grade class work, a student does. Not to be rude, but one of the worst teachers I have ever had in my life. Very scatter-brained, and will misslead you, resulting in messing up an assignment. Does not do what he says he wil regarding when he posts homework. Avoid at all costs, unless you enjoy being very annoyed every class.

He flies through the PowerPoints and you wont have enough time to write anything, thats why you print the entire PowerPoint and take notes on the margins. He doesnt really explain anything simply.

He isn't very clear on most of the material but if you work hard enough you can understand it on your own. There is a HUGE curve at the very end of the class. The A curved down to a 79%.

He is very willing to help outside of class, even if it's just to have an older person to talk to about life problems. The grading is skewed a little so don't freak if you have over an 85 you have an A. His tests are kind of hard because there aren't many questions at all, but there are a lot of quizzes. The quizzes are worth as much as a test.

Dr. McAfee was the most caring professor that I have ever had. The class is difficult, but Dr. McAfee is willing to help his students at all times. He is also dedicated to assisting his students in gaining acceptance to professional programs.

Knows the material, explains it poorly, rambles on through the power point slides. Unorganized, his tests are about 20 questions. Every test has some questions that he didn't teach how to do. 10 point curve for my class because everyone was doing so badly. He is smart and knows his stuff just doesn't teach it well.

If you can't record the lecture, try to take someone else. He goes ridiculously fast and even those of us who are science geeks have a hard time keeping up. You're also better off trying to make time to see him in person than emailing him - you'll never get a response.

I here he used to be a good teacher, but he was one of the worst I have ever had in college. He barely understands what he is teaching. If you need biochem, wait to take it at another institution. Tjis class was a joke. Not worth your time or money.

the class is extremely difficult, but he is an awesome teacher. just expect to study a lot and to really work hard. i recommend to memorize details on the powerpoint and beat your other classmates, since he curves the class.

I really enjoyed his lab class. Chemistry at this school is hard in general but stick with it because our "C" cut off for this semester was a 45%. So no worries if you fail every test or quiz! He is helpful and if you stay after and talk to him a little bit, he favors you and will pass ya no matter what!

Says he cares about his students, puts on an image but he is dosen't want to help you if you go to his office and ask a question. Made this class irritating to be in. Don't except much from him teaching wise. Just reads the slides that you might as well read yourself.

Nice guy, but not a very good teacher. Just reads through slides for the lecture material (I could do that at home). Only 20 or so questions on most tests so it's hard to do well in the course. Overall, bad experience!

Excellent teacher and very helpful. Take Gen Chem from this guy, AVOID SIAM AND PAUL LIKE THE PLAGUE! I had Siam for Chem 2. Dr McAfee is very helpful on any subject matter, and a very nice guy. Take your general from him, not sure what else he teache
