Professor Toole is an amazing professor. POLS207 is a pretty tough class but if you put in ample time and effort, you can easily earn an A. The argument paper and the sources paper aren't too bad, and if you pick a solid question for your research paper, you'll be fine. Toole is a GREAT professor, and I hope to take more classes with him.

The papers were simply brutal. For a non-upper level course, this one will take most of your time during the semester. Im a biology major... And Id rather do Organic Chem or Calulus over taking a class with him again.

He is a great Professor, he always is available to talk to outside of class. Is a tough grader but helps students when they ask for the help. One of the best teachers in the PolySci department

He is by far the best professor in the Poly Sci dept! His classes can be difficult as he only lectures, does not provide any notes. You have to come to class & participate. 3 different papers, longest is up to 20 pgs. Start this one as early as possible! He's great at giving feedback or helping if you don't understand something. He genuinely cares!

You will have to write 3 papers for the class: Normative Paper-- use the word "should" or he won't consider it normative. Sources Paper-- Write out SPECIFIC questions you want each source to answer. Research Paper-- Start EARLY. 15 sources. He grades HARD. Put your thesis statement in the first paragraph. Extremely sweet and caring, though!

I hated that class. Grading is not clear, for 200 level course the work load is enormous, overall youhave to write 40 pages of papers and take an exam. The expectations from students are ridiculous and unjustified. His feedback is not clear, he says its fine and then you get your grade/feedback on the work at its like B-. Hated it, never again pls

He is great at giving constructive criticism, and shows you your strengths and weaknesses in your work. He's there to help when it's needed, and he'll commend you when you do something well. He's very enthusiastic about his classes, and his lectures are always enjoyable. Hands-down my favorite professor on campus.

I am not a poli sci major but I took a class with Professor Toole and found his enthusiasm contagious. He is extremely helpful and makes a point of not airing his personal views. Highly recommend him if you are serious about taking the course.

Prof. Toole is passionate about his courses and I believe he cares a great deal about teaching. However, he is not particularly good at teaching and I noticed that he tends to be politically slanted.

One of the best profs in the department. Loves what he does and is enthusiastic about it. If you're a slacker who wants to put in a minimal effort, this is not the prof for you.

A wonderful teacher who makes a long class like senior seminar bearable. Don't expect to get an A if you only put in a minimal effort. Attendance & participation are mandatory in all his classes. If you are struggling or don't understand a concept, he's more than happy to help.
