Awesome professor! While he is willing to help you in any way possible, he will make you work for an A. I pulled a B in both of his classes. There was never a dull moment in his class, he was always cracking joke through out the lecture. I will say this though, if you're one who wears your emotions on your sleeve...don't take him. But he's AWESOME!

Seriously he doesn't clarify at all in lecture. He speeds through things as if he he has somewhere to be. I wouldn't recommend taking his class. Yeah he's old and funny and all, but his reviews are minimal for 80 plus question tests. Read your book and teach yourself basically.

Fun class but the tests sucked! Study hard for them. Go to every class session bc he does iClicker quizzes, read the chapters, and take good notes. He's a great professor but sometimes he goes through things too fast and start to ramble.

Okay I'm not sure if Startin has suddenly changed his way of presenting tests, but honestly, I thought this class would be super easy, and the tests are also very easy (or so they seem) and then I end up making a C instead of an A. And so does the rest of the class. It's ridiculous. I study everything and I even read the chapter. Take someone else.

Great Teacher!! If you are taking American Politics pick him. He loves teaching his class and he makes politics fun. Class is not hard just pay attention and come to class to get iClicker points.

He is very funny and he's a really nice professor. He does go really fast though. He posts reviews on Blackboard for the daily quizzes. However, during his lecture he'll skip a lot saying that it's on BB and then I cannot find it anywhere. He's entertaining but confusing.

Don't buy the book! All lectures come from BB. Study material on BB the day before you go to class. Daily quizzes using i-clicker. Attendance helps grade. Offers extra point papers, but I didn't need it. Just study EVERYTHING he posts on BB and you're grand. Book isn't necessary.

This Professor is great. He is extremely humorous and makes you want to pay attention to his lectures, which can get quite long. Tests are not too hard, just read and look at the study notes and you should be fine. A relatively easy A, just make sure you go to class because he does take iclicker attendance and gives quizzes.

This professor is the GREATEST! He is very interactive and is very willing to help you out if you ask for it. He is quite humorous. Although his lectures are long and wordy, all slide are on BB. His class in only on MW and most classes he let's us out early. Once he let us out 45min early cause he could't find a slide and since! I RECOMMEND HIM!!!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Professor Startin!! He is such wonderful man! He is hilarious and makes you want to pay attention. I definitely recommend sitting in the front or close to the front because he'll get to know you and that's always a good thing! You need an iclicker and you'll have an easy quiz every class for attendance.

He can get on your nerves easily. First of all he's the only conservative politics teacher that ever walked the earth. 2nd he grunts a lot. Like he's done it for an entire 5 seconds. weird. HE IS AMAZING! I loved his class! he's funny and very interesting, if you do the work, come to class and prepare you will come out with an A no doubt. both texas and american politics are great, got A's in both. definitely recommend him. He's a really great professor
