He is hilarious and really interesting to listen to. Can be a tough grader but gives clear instructions on what he wants. This class is very fun but you cannot skip or it will effect your grade. He can be intimidating because hes very opinionated and likes to ask questions that will call you out but hes a cool dude.

Honestly, I loved this man! If I can take him again I would. If you pay attention & do the required projects, it would be really hard for anyone to fail this class! 100% recommend! His lectures are funny & very understanding. One of my FAVORITE Communications teachers!

Comment:

Burns is a great lecturer who will keep you entertained and interested. There is one quiz (highest grade gets to choose project topic first), weekly opinions, a project, and a final. The project and weekly opinions are very simple and straightforward. If you complete all your work, you will do well.

He's a really great teacher. You have to present one speech during the semester, but you basically get to choose the topic. He is a pretty easy grader, but definitely study for the mid-term and final. He also is really picky about spelling, so don't misspell.

Highly recommend. Extremely funny and interactive lectures. Everything brought up in class is relatable, easy to grasp, and completely coated in a very comedic tone. Just do the work he assigns, don't be shy, and you'll be fine.

I highly recommend!!! I took him in the summer and it was the best decision I've made! All homework was online and we only had to give 4 speeches. TAKE HIM!

Burns is a professor that everyone should take at least once. He makes his classes so interesting that you actually want to go (which is important b/c he takes attendance every class). Take really good notes and write down basically everything he says because anything that comes out of his mouth is game for the tests. Overall, I LOVED THIS CLASS!

He's an amazing professor, he just doesn't give many chances. You miss a homework assignment, you're done for. He emails the homeworks out the day before they are due so you must be on top of receiving emails and doing the assignments right away or you won't pass. Passed with a C cause I missed a homework assignment buf good prof

I was terrified to take Public Speaking. So much that I waited til my last year to take it. I took him in the Summer and it was the best choice I made. He seperated us into groups for different times & different days so we didnt have to attend every class and we only had to present in front of 4 or 5 people. Do the work and breathe! It will be ok!

Dr. Burns still is the best professor ive had to date. he barley uses the book and it was clear what was on the test. test were easy as long you stud. he doesn't except late work but the work is sooo easy . Passed his class with an And hes hilarious!

First and foremost, his name is Dr Burns and he will not give you a pleasant answer if you call him anything else. I LOVED this class and will be taking every other class he teaches as well. His syllabus was clear and let you know what was going to be happening every week up until the final. His lectures are fun and make you want to participate

Burns is a phenomenal teacher. Took him for this media criticism class. His lectures are based in pop culture and the news and he does not suppress differing opinions, but encourages it. Debate papers and an oral debate with another student are required for each topic. Its super easy though. He grades fair and is very clear on what he wants. Easy A

Comment:

You're expected to write an opinion piece (about a paragraph or so) a week to turn in. He's not a hard grader. Be willing to ramble with him and talk during class in order for participation. All in all, I loved his class and he taught me alot I didn't know. He made me want to dig deeper into my communications degree. (READ THE SYLLABUS)
