prereq of chi 1002 is not sufficient for this class. gave me a heart attk n wasted my time when i realized this. prof is not willin to do anythin about this. only cares about his native speaker students. baruch messed up by doing this.

He's great! I love his class, the discussions are always interesting, and if he sees that you are interested in learning, you will get a good grade. I learned so much in this class in one semester, he is very experienced and made me love chinese!

I took his CHI 3002 and CHI 4183. Both classes are very interesting. Classes are not hard if you study, I got both A in his classes. He is a very exprienced and knowledgable prof. You can learn lot of things. BTW, his classes are so funny. Take him!

Very interesting class, just sit there and watch a lot of movies. Prof clearly gives u the idea of whats gonna be tested and as long as you study, you gonna be ok. Pay attention in class would help a lot too. RECOMMENDED. easy to get A

Best Chinese prof I've ever had. He clearly explains to the last detail how to use complex grammatical structures and when you should use similar words. Funny, personable, and just a great professor. Your background is taken into consideration, so as long as you work hard and show improvement, you will do well.

Yu is a very challenging professor. If you really want to learn Chinese he is definitely the person to take. He is not easy though, requires lots and lots of work. But he does recognize hard work. If you have the passion to learn Chinese I think you will leave this class with a much higher level of understanding of Chinese

If you're not a native speaker, the course is very hard. Although he is funny and nice, his exams are tricky. Lot's of reading to do. He has some strange ideas, and he said so himself that he's strange. So if you don't mind working hard, take him.
