Comment:
Professor Zachman was good at remaining politically neutral (meaning I couldnt tell you what his personal beliefs are, or what side of the political spectrum he is on) while teaching this class and treated everyones contributions with respect. The class was well organized and a schedule (with due dates) is given with the syllabus.

Dr. Zachman was a wonderful instructor and the class was super interesting! You will learn a lot. Personally, though I already was fascinated with politics, I grew more enthusiastic through the course of this semester. The readings from the book can feel extensive, but the lectures help you see the practical implication. Wonderful class and prof!

John is by far the best professor I've had at NMC. He's unbelievably knowledgable about politics/the world etc.. He's super helpful if you talk to him after class/office hours etc. Textbook is a little dry but lectures and class discussions are fascinating. I would definitely recommend any of his classes, especially International Relations.

Politics can be an explosive topic, but delivered in a monotone it never was in Mr. Zachmans class. The final exam was based off of the previous quizzes; he provided the option to give feedback for term papers before the final deadline, which was helpful. He lacked enthusiasm for his subject matter which was apparent in his lectures.

John Zachman is the absolute best. I had very little interest in politics when I began the class, but John made me feel more passionately about the importance of knowing American politics without ever shoving any particular beliefs on me. Amazing class, amazing professor! Always willing to further explain, and hilarious to boot!

John Zachman was a wonderful professor. I took Intro to Politics with him and could not have asked for a better teacher. Prior to this class I had very little knowledge of politics. John made the class very interesting and intriguing. Not only did he cover the course materialbook material, but he related it to current issues for understanding.

I am not a fan of politics and would never take a class on it unless it was something that was required for my degree. He is an amazing professor there for you to learn and engages his students to participate in class and respected your views as an individual never made you feel stupid or disrespected you in class for your views. AMAZING!

Best teacher I have had @ NMC. Funny, dry sense of humor (which I loved-he had the class cracking up) engaging discussions. I would give 10 stars if I could. You can get away with not reading the text if you keep up with the news, but it does help to read the text. I would recommend this professor to anyone.

Amazing guy and class. If you happen to be easily distracted by tall, charming, intelligent, funny men then I'd advise against taking his classes...or maybe you should. I've loved every class I've had with him. International relations is a bit tougher than American Politics, but you will learn so much.

I have taken every single PLS course that NMC offers. Had Zachman for all of them. Let me tell you something, he is the best teacher at NMC. He knows his material. He is no slouch either. He will challenge you, but if you put in the effort, you will pass. I learned a lot from Z about politics. I've learned more from him than any other teacher @NMC

Both the classes I took were amazing. Though International Relations was slightly more difficult than Intro to American Politics, they were both fantastic. John is an amusing and delightful professor. He keeps the class interesting and is not extremely difficult. I would recommend him to everyone and plan taking more of his classes just for him.

He is incredible intelligent and his lectures are fun and easy to follow. I would recommend taking from him a million times over. Thanks Zachman!!

Okay teacher... He gives a lot of reading homework to do and the textbook is really boring, so I just took notes in class and looked up info online. He gives lots of oppertunities for extra credit. I didn't feel that he was particularly helpful though, he always acted too busy to answer my questions.

He is an excellent, fun teacher. Learned a majority of class from lecture, lots of reading but paying attention in class is more helpful than the reading. If you show your effort is 100% he will give back 100% in helping you have success. Excellent class and teacher for those wanting better understanding of basic. polics

He is such a brilliant man and it shows in his tests. The lectures are so easy to follow but when it comes to what you gotta know, you will need the text book. He always grades on curves though.

Assigns a chapter of the textbook to read EACH class, 30 pages of a textbook is near impossible to read if you don't want to die of boredom. Talks all hour, hardly writes anything on the board which makes it very hard to take notes. He's a very smart and nice guy, but this class was very very hard!
