She is a very nice, funny professor and I enjoyed her class. She had a variety of teaching methods which was helpful and had a lot of in class discussions. We also had a group project where we had to get involved in the community which was well explained and pretty easy! I would definitely take her again.

Took Julie for DMACC's 2 week speech class over the summer. The class was super easy. We had 7 or 8 quizzes, one each day until the end. They were easy and online. In class we had to stand up and do a roll call speech which was just answering a question. One personal speech which is ungraded, a informative, 2 persuasive speeches. Good teacher.

Took Julie for my speech requirement. Solid teacher, not the greatest I've ever had. It's an easy A. Weekly quizzes online. Says you should read but I never once opened my textbook past the first week. About 4 speeches, pretty fun. A solid choice if you're worried about homework/coursework, as there isn't a ton!

Quizzes you can use notes on and tests you work in groups but no notes. There are 3 small papers only two pages at most for each one. Group discussion is great but lectures can drag at times if you're not interested in them. Also you have vocab quizzes you NEED to do because the small points add up. Vocab quizzes are easy though plentiful.

I took a two week acceleratted class with her for SPC 126 (interpersonal communication) and it was great! This was one class I truly enjoyed. You take a daily open book quiz that she hands out at the beginning of each class, and easy tests. The course itself is very interesting too. I would highly reccommend this professor and this class!!

Hands down my favorite DMACC professor. I took two classes with Julie at DMACC before moving on to UIA. I had her for Marriages and Families and Interpersonal. In both classes she did an excellent job teaching and engaging students. She isn't easy but is very willing to help if you're a serious student.

I adore Julie. I was terrified to take speech, as most are, and found myself pleasantly surprised. She's willing to help you all the way. She wants you to suceed and improve your confidence in speaking. I found her to be clear and concise with what she is looking for. She gives a packet that outlines all you need to do for the class. Loved her!

I dont know what prior to '08 raters are referring to with the "group tests" - we had none of that. I had her for small group communication. No group tests. Exams are difficult if you do not read and study the textbook or regularly attend class. But if you do all that, you'll do fine. Interesting class, and Julie is a nice proff.

Julie is a great proff, really nice, respectful of students. If you read the book, like I did, you'll get an A. If you dont, you wont do well. Just do your work and you'll do well.

Waste of my time in this class. It was so PC that it felt like she was teaching grade schoolers. We don't have "quizzes" we have "readiness assessment tests". Group tests are a joke. If your more concerned with self-esteem than learning, by all means sign up.

She is great. Very fun and involves herself in the class-doesn't just teach it. The group tests make it less stressing. Her tests can be a bit confusing however. Just speak well and have GOOD outlines and you'll enjoy it and get a good grade.
