This was a great class & the lab associated with it was great too! I had to use the book allot. In fact, the book was new when I started the semester and now looks like it has been through a war-zone. I would recommend doing the assigned reading (so that when you go to lecture you can follow along) and completing all the assigned work.

Teaches at University of Utah now I had him the spring of 2011. It was a hard class but learned a lot about heat transfer and how to solve problems. However extermely unorganized and hard to get a hold of.

lectures are a complete waste of time-he could spend hours talking about the front cover of our textbook! Textbook he chose was full of errors and bad at explaining important concepts. About half the class stopped showing up after teh first month everyone else in the class was asleep within the first 5 minutes.

This course failed to meet the majority of my expectations coming into the course. First off understanding the fundamental theories of ethics and its applications became lost in the redundant and subjective opinions nitpicking over extremeley obscure details in our class discussions. Professor needs to reign in discussion and guide it with clarity.

Don't expect to get a lot of answers in E191. It just isn't that simple. However, if you want to really get a handle on your beliefs and opinions, then this class is for you.

Good class, not too much work, many interesting topics came up in discussions with many differing viewpoints. Sometimes, Prof. Udell spoke too much without letting students get in their opinions as much as could have been possible but overall it was alright.

i personally didn't enjoy how we talked 98% about the problems, with only 2% left for possible solutions .. i wonder how the 4 or so other ethics courses on campus compare.. it was fascinating to hear various perspectives, but i think everything i learned in the course could be summed up into 5 single-spaced, typed pages.

Prof Udells universal respect for opinions is key to making engineering ethics a great class. It's esay to say things when one gets a feeling that he makes no judgments on the things you say.

Comment:
Prof. Udell did a good job of encouraging discussion that was stimulating and provocative but respectful of all views. There was quite a range of opinions in the class, and all were given a fair chance to express those views. The assignments were reasonable in terms of time and were aimed to get us to think more than anything.
