Comment:

I get that professors are busy, especially if they're the department Chair-person. However, this does not excuse the negligence in grading and feedback. To give perspective, our term paper is based on 2 previous papers. The 1st paper was due Mar. 2, and we didn't receive feedback until April 28, and the 2nd and term paper are due a week apart. sad.

Will deduct points from your assignments if you even forget to use a hyphen. Grades your assignments LATE and is a tough grader, do not take him. I don't care if he is the chair of the department, he is not a good professor. Is not considerate for students and their need for feedback with enough time before the next draft is due, not the day before

Comment:

Really kind and smart professor. He is very open-minded and is always willing to listen to students talk in class. Great feedback on papers and good and giving help during office hours. Sometimes will take long to grade papers but all around is not a professor to skip on. The class taught me a lot about language, much of it very relevant.

Try to take another course if possible. If you do take this class please cite your sources, he doesn't mess around. This class is no joke. Three papers and three exams. Read, study, and you will do great. Utilize his office hours and have him look over your paper before submitting! Always participate in lecture, it will only help you.

I had him for rhetorical theory and he was pretty tough. He grades pretty hard on the essays. I used his study guides and got high Bs on his tests, but you really need to know the definitions of the terms he gives you on the study guide. I got an A with the EC I got from his quizes which gave all the students a possible extra 10%. Prepare to read!

Not a great speaker, but great at engaging entire class in discussions. Doesn't just lecture and assigns very interesting readings. Feedback from papers was too slow, but learned a ton from class. He was always available.

My first C ever :(. It was tough, so read all of the required reading, do well on the pop quizzes, and the 2 papers. The papers are short (3-4 pages), but he grades pretty grade. The course material is boring in general, the professor can't help that.
