Comment:

Dr. Dupre is a tough grader, high minded, liberal, and a bit goofy. Although his assignments are difficult, he is willing to help with answering questions, meeting outside of class, and providing resources. Even though his liberal opinions differed with my conservative ones, he still respected me making me respect him even more.

Comment:

He is the only English professor at ASU who is appropriately difficult for junior/senior level university classes. Yes, you will have to attend classes and do the reading. Yes, he can be a meticulous grader, but, if you put in effort, he will help you grow as a writer, reader, and thinker.

Dr. Dupre classes are SO DIFFICULT. I was stressed to the max all semester. That being said, I have never felt so proud of any work that I accomplished in a class as I did in these two. My writing was meticulous, and pleasing him provided intrinsic motivation that far exceeds all the anxiety you will suffer. Take him- DO IT! SUCK IT UP AND DO IT!!

Dr. Dupre is a great teacher, buts HE'S SO LIBERAL! If you are conservative, be prepared to boil in your seat. He's also super fine in the most annoying and intimidating kind of way... which also makes you boil in your seat. Be prepared to learn a lot, write a lot, and feel bothered... in many different ways lol

Comment:

Dr. Dupre is one of the hardest professors you will ever have. However, you will be ready for any and everything thrown at you in the English field. A junior or senior level English course shouldn't be easy, and you should be prepared to work hard. His classes were always really rewarding!

Dr. Dupre is certainly notorious at ASU for being the most difficult English teacher but he is also very passionate and very intelligent. He knows what he is talking about and his classes are mostly discussion which I love. He expects you to read all the novels, take an essay test or two, and write a paper on a novel from a critical perspective.

Take him on campus and you will love the time spent in class. His expectations are high so do not wait until the last minute to put together any major assignment. His online classes consume too much time and he is picky about sources. Deal patiently with his liberal rantings if you're moderate/conservative. If you're liberal then don't abuse it.

Dr. Dupre is a wonderful professor - passionate, helpful, and open-minded. I recommend his lit theory course for ANY English/literature major, minor, or enthusiast. A fantastic introduction to theory and great discussions. I feel like I grew as a person from his class and hope to take more of his courses in the future.
