First online class. Professor was helpful and got back to me very quickly. Get ready to read and write. If you are self motivated and disciplined to push yourself to work on-line class is for you. Hand in all writing and participate in class discussions. She gives enough time for work to be completed and extension if needed. Great Professor.

Comment:

Great prof! She's an experienced professional who brings out the best in her students. I also love the fact she's loud and energetic. Classes couldn't be more interesting. Get ready to participate, because she will call on you if you're a wall flower. Get reading because that book is 200% mandatory. Don't have an attitude, either. She's great!

Professor Southard is very nice and does her best to make 'Dry' material more lively. She is a little unorganized, and it took a while to get papers back from her. 2 essays, 1 revision, several quizzes, and 2 tests are whats assigned, and textbook is required!

A lot of reading and writing but shes extremely nice and you will pass with a good grade just do your work and youll be good she gets side tracked easily but its good cause it gives you a break would take her again

I took her class online and thought she was a really good professor. She gives you feedback on every assignment you do and is always there when you need her. She's also really understanding. Most of her assignments are based on the textbook and you really have to participate in the discussions with a lengthy response to get full credit.

She is down to earth and very receptive to her students idea's and opinions. I enjoyed her discussions and her choice of literature. Bottom line if you participate and get all your work in on time she respects you. Would take her again in a heart beat.

I love Prof. Southard. She is a great teacher and loves what she does. She is funny and always available/willing to help. Yes there is a decent amount of reading, HELLO its Intro to Lit ! The quizzes are easy if you do the homework/reading. She listens, gives good feedback and really opens your mind. Would absolutely take again :) Best teacher.

I took Prof. Southard for intro to lit and then again for contemporary literature. I would take her a 3rd time if I could! She's funny, caring, and really loves english. You can tell she enjoys her job. Definitely my favorite professor at Suffolk! She's always willing to help and listen to her students. Such a sweetheart :)

sweet lady but I have to say for ENG102 she SUCKS. there are quizzes after EVERY reading and her formats for essays are not clear at all. It's poorly written and makes it very confusing to write the papers. Even though she's really nice I would never take her coarse again.

She is a good teacher. She helps those who seek it. Very clear on how to pass class. If you apply yourself you will pass. Very helpful, and saw my effort. Works with the student well. She may come off as strict , but she is a helpful teacher. Try and you will pass. she helped me a lot with my writing.

She's my favorite professor since I took her class. I am considering taking some extra classes not needed for my degree just to take her classes. She's really funny and sweet, and cares what everyone says. She feeds off of ideas and throws them right back to you, which is great. I highly recommend her to anyone!!

Absolutely love this professor. I was not sure if this class was for me when the semester started. A few weeks in, probably one of my favorite classes. Some of the lit. is hard to read and she knows that. She would explain what she can. LOTS of quizzes to make sure you are doing your reading.

Best professor I've had here. Every day you have to read and will be quizzed but she's great and so helpful she really cares about her students and gives plenty of chances to do really well. Always extra credit on everything. She's just so great

She is awesome at speaking ill give her that. Her quizzes, hw, tests are hard. The midterm she gave us was a take home, she was absent the day of. That midterm took everyone in the class at least 3-5 hours to complete. She's such a slow grader, and she's bad at it too, an essay i got a 70 on, 2 of 4 pages were blank as if she barely read it.

She is a great professor even if you don't like English classes. However, she does give a lot of reading from the textbook every class and we also have to read a book on the side but that's college. Just show up and ask questions if you need to AND she gives quizzes on what you read so make sure you read!

TAKE THIS PROFESSOR'S COURSE. She is a true teacher. She helps with everything and is very clear what she expects. I learned so much from her course. It was an online course that had a good amount of work but she helped you through every assignment. Her comments were always positive. I wish all professors taught like she did.
