Comment:

Ruiz is a great Prof. She wants to see her students succeed. She is definitely an easy grader and quite honestly it takes very minimal effort to pass/get an A. This has +/-and many ppl just slack off, which makes discussions dry But with that said she is willing to challenge motivated students and is clearly passionate about the texts she assigns.

Lillian was an awesome teacher! She is always willing to work with you if you make the effort to ask. She is real understanding that life gets in the way sometimes. You will not regret taking her class a very, very caring lady. Her class is a judgement free zone. I will be taking another one of her classes when need be. Highly Recommend!!!

I took public speaking with Lillian in the January term, it was one of the best classes I have ever taken. I was petrified but Lillian was so encouraging. She fostered one of the most supportive classes I've ever been in, we really became a sort of public speaking family. It's the only A- I've gotten at GCC, though.

Comment:

Lillian is a character... I'll probably always remember her fondness for pugs. She had good verbal feedback after every speech, graded fairly (a few points off for saying "um" after every sentence during a speech is probably fair, right? haha). Wouldn't mind taking her Shakespeare course, she's a sweet lady and it was a good class.

Long, boring lectures. No homework, no tests. 2 essays that are very easy and self explanatory and can be turned in after the due date and edited after she gives you feedback. She goes over the previous nights homework during class and makes sure to describe it well. Final is open book, open note and you can use computers to look up info. Very easy

If you're a lover of the classics, you'll love this class. Professor Ruiz is kind, fair, interesting, and bends over backwards to help her students. Reading is quite heavy, and if you're not going to read 50-75 pages a day, don't bother taking the class. Several papers to write. Loved loved the class! AND, she has a pug!

I had Lillian for Shakespeare. She is so intelligent and really knows her stuff. The class was insightful and extremely interesting. Discussions are fun and entertaining. As an overall teacher she is helpful and very willing to explain things after class. She is a great professor! I suggest her to anyone! I had her twice while attending GCC

Great class, I also took her media class. She is an incredibly supportive teacher, and really helpful. She makes something as dreadful as public speaking actually a lot of fun. I highly recommend her in all her classes. She's just a good teacher!

Lillian was great after my first class with her i decided to take two more of her classes. She keeps the work load light, and unchallenging but interesting. Loves to hear peoples perspectives and very encouraging!

As someone with a lot of previous public speaking experience, I didn't find this class particularly challenging, but as an introductory general requirement that's not surprising. Lillian was fun and supportive in a class that could easily be very stressful for students, and provided helpful critiques while grading leniently.

Lillian made a hard class tolerable and do-able. She had a gentle way of guiding you and bonding the group together to create a safe place to get up and speak in front of everyone. Even though my voice still quavered, I actually enjoyed doing my speeches--something I never expected to happen.
