Comment:

I have had Becker for NEUR125, NEUR357, NEUR358, PSYC259, and PSYC355. She is the best teacher I have had at UE. She sometimes gets off topic, but she fully explains the material. She is very approachable and will answer any questions. If she feels the class isn't understanding a topic, she will reteach it and move the test back a few days.

Comment:

Because this is an introductory course, she does not do a great job lecturing. You MUST read the chapters before the tests. If you do not read on your own, you will struggle. However, if you read you will be fine. Normal tests are around 3 Chapters, so I would study for a week before. Study a chapter for 2 days, and then the final day review it all

She is very laid back & may cancel class sometimes. It is hard material so if she feels she wasn't clear enough on a topic or the class isn't understanding the chapters, she will push the test back and even make it take home. She is super approachable and her office is always open! I would take another class with her any time.

By far the best class I have taken at UE. Although most of the class is student-based (each student has to present either part or all of a chapter), it was very enjoyable.

You can tell that she loves the topic! I took this class for Honors General Education and never thought I would end up enjoying it so much. Watch the test questions, they are tricky.

Very unprofessional. Showed up to class late very often, sometimes still in her pajamas. Doesn't cover or even mention a lot of the material on exams, forgot to bring an exam once after already postponing it for a class and then said she was disappointed in our test scores because she gave us an extra weekend to study. Really ticked me off.

Very laid back, cool teacher. Doesn't always explain everything clearly though. Just read the textbook thoroughly and you will understand the material and do good on tests, otherwise not really.

Useless teacher. She shows up to each class at least 10 minutes late, if she shows up. She also often doesn't cover all the class material she needs to cover and NEVER keeps her word. I feel bad for anyone majoring in her field.

Comment:

She teaches the things that are interesting to everyone (for the most part), like sleep and sex. It's a good class and teacher combination for everyone to take to learn about yourself and other people. You do need to read the book, though, and some chapters can get pretty technical.

Extremely passionate about her subject, and very helpful. Unlike most profs she almost never lectures on content from the book, but rather the small, confusing things the book leaves out. A+ teacher imo.

A very fun professor. She is clearly interested in the well-being of her students and their grades. I recall one time after most of the class did poorly on a test, she sat down with us and asked why we thought we didn't do well, and then tried her hardest to help us understand things we might have missed and how to do better the next time. Great.

Dr. Becker's classes are a blast! Make sure you read the book, however. Her tests are hard, but she's a very fair grader. Even if you're not interested in the class subject, you'll never forget what you've learned at the end of the semester.

I had her for Human Sexuality. She never taught. We divided into groups and could present the chapter any way we wanted. Very interesting. Open discussion class. Lots of fun. She gave packs of condons, lube, freshening wipes, and mints out in class. So sweet, absent minded, but extremely helpful!!! Wonderful woman!

She is very entertaining while teaching, she makes everything fun to listen to with her wild stories. I fell in love with the class, she relates everything she talks about to the subject matter. Her tests are EXTREMELY hard, but if you study you can still get an A.

Lora was a good teacher. I had her for multiple classes. She was always available if you needed help, even willing to come in after hours if you needed. I was her Teaching Asst for Stats as well, so saw her from the "other side of the desk" as well and can see she really cares about her students.
