She is a very great instructor and always welcomes you to her office. Many students told her lectures boring but I found it interesting with effective writing guidelines and inspirational conversations. The assignments are not difficult with familiar topics, and she is willing to support you if you get trouble finding materials. Do your journals.

This class was very relaxed to the point where it kinda got boring at times. She assigns major papers, but she's willing to help you out if you ask. Very open-minded in some subjects. DO YOUR JOURNALS.

One of the best professors I have ever had. Extremely flexible and understanding. She will take time out of her schedule to help you if you are struggling (which you won't if you just do the work). I would take her again if I could!

Horrible Professor!!! You can't win with her!! She gives you C's on all your papers and always wants a rewrite. Why is it in my History class I get B+'s on my papers, but in this class I always get C's? Okay so she gave me one B. Don't take Rarey. I'm gonna end up with a 70% by the skin of my teeth.

i could understand when people say that the class is boring but the essays are not difficult, when i took ms.rarey class i had an A, sad to say she broke her arm and we got a substitute which was horrible. im sorry i took ms rarey for granted when i had her i wish i could have her again DO YOUR JOURNALS!!

Good teacher. She explains well and commands attention of the class. You must do the assignments, true, but isn't that why we're in college? The assignments were interesting and related well to the course. I didn't really learn anything new, but I did feel like I expanded on what I already knew and this will help me in future classes.

She did assign papers often. But most of them were on subject that were easy for you to write about. She was very serious about you knowing MLA style! But she is a sweetheart and I don't think she would fail anyone if she didn't have to.

even though she was very boring and it was hard to pay attention, the journals were easy to do. we used the textbook a lot so if you do the journals you are set for getting a good grade. there were also papers to write which were easy. if you don't mind sitting through a boring class to get an easy grade then i say go for it!

I took ENG 101 with her back in 2008.We had 4 essays to write,I had over 90 for all them.I was pretty sure I was getting A,but was shocked to find out that I got C.I had never had Cs before.I was all in tears and asking her to explain why I got C,not even a B ?!.All of my essays were over 90. Her answer was poor journal.

She is a "tough grader" by CCBC standards, but she's doing us all a favor so we won't write like idiots in our 4 year schools. She's willing to help, but you'll have to go to her. I didn't find the workload difficult. I enjoyed the books we read. She's a nice lady. Random fact: she's Mormon.
