Comment:

I've had Lynn for 3 classes now and she's usually clear cut and consistent. She participates in her own discussion boards and is pretty quick and returning questions via email. For this class there was 5 assignments every week:Discussion, 2 replies, download work, online training and a test. Easy peasy as long as you do the work.

Comment:

Professor Snyder is great with databases. The class itself requires working through the book and the online simulations (use only Firefox). The book itself is very helpful for understanding Access and I liked the structure. If you have experience with Access already, it is an easy class. Otherwise, you may have work, but nothing too difficult.

Good class, book useful. You must do the work and follow along if you expect to earn a good grade, but if you do, you will learn a lot. I took the class in summer so it was especially fast paced, fitting 16 weeks of material into 8 weeks, which included a final project that took several weeks. Learned a lot.

Although I finished with the top grade, only two others even received A's. Very tough class and you must actually read the material. Others will have to do more. She seemed a little inexperienced in SAD occasionally, but with a ton of information on IS. You must work at this class or wash out like the others did (many in my group alone).

Comment:

Database/MySQL is not an easy topic. I had the advantage of 5 years of writing queries before taking the class. Lynn Synder is very knowledgeable with databases and queries. Make no mistake, the class does have a lot of work in it. Don't overburden yourself only to complain it was the professor later. You will learn quite a bit from this course.

This is extremely hard as a webcourse. I just completed it and she expects you to spend 12-18 hrs on homework a week. There is a lot of hands on exercises in the book that you need to complete each week. This book is extremely difficult to use because it just tells you what things are not how to use them in real life situations.

Took her class online. She is very slow in grading, and you won't get your grade in time to see what you did wrong before a test. The books were a bit difficult to comprehend. This class takes a lot of your time,and it's difficult. She's helpful out of class though, and personally, she's a very nice lady. Helpful, good at answering emails.

I enjoyed the hands-on, real life experience she provided in this class. She is tough, but in a good structured kind of way. I recommend her to those who are inexperienced and want a real world learning environment Vs an easy A.

Enrolled in her IST144 course, MySQL and Database Management. I would not recommend taking this as a web course. She does not grade assignments on time, but expects you to continue onward to the next section or assignment and complete it by the next required deadline. Received more help from a tutor than the actual professor.

Professor Snyder is tough! She grades very strictly and not much margin for error. This was a Microsoft Access course and I would not recommend taking this course online with her. You will have a lot of required homework and the bi-weekly exams, midterms, and final are very extensive, and not allowed to use textbook! Good luck if you take her!

This Professor was very good about getting back with answers to your questions. Although, make no mistake about it, you will be expected to do homework every week, very extensive (3+ assignments). The multiple-choice exams were murder (extremely difficult), very hard to get an A on them. On the other hand, the hands on exams were pretty good.

I had her for Access and it was a lot of work. She is somewhat confusing so i pretty much learned on my own. She offered help, but seemed to focus on a few select students so that when I got stuck on a problem I had to wait like 10 minutes for help. It got really frustrating.

Nice teacher, but not as knowledgeable as she could be. Class focused on irrelevent materials at times (flowcharting and pseudocode) without giving balance to the meat of the matter.
