Comment:

Would not assist in showing how to work problems. One exam had 2 problems--one worth 10 points and one worth 90 points. I worked both problems correctly, which he acknowledged, but he gave me zero points on the 90 point problem because I solved it like a mathematician rather than an engineer. Grades of the class varied from 0 to 10. Nonsense!

Oh god in heaven, I've never seen the class average be a 40 or so and a teacher be proud of that. He was incredibly vague the entire semester about everything, never worked out an entire problem, and never explained how he got his answers. Don't take him.

Part 2 not seen before, those with previous tests have great advantage. He doesn?t seem to see students as paying customers. By example, he shows how corporate politics often work. I never saw anything in his methods that taught Systems thinking. UTK doesn't get my Alumni money because of instructors like him.

Took his classes in the 1990's Correctly, he emphasizes mastery of material and the ability to derive; but his facilitation was poor. Compare how your exams are graded against your class mates, you may notice trends in favor of his "favorites". Women in my classes unanimously thought he was biased against women. almost any aerospace student will tell you Dr. Milligan is an excellent instructor. usually lazy (and probably not very smart) students will give him bad reviews. if you keep up with homework and readings, his classes aren't really that difficult.

This class was backwards from day 1. He didn't really lecture and then he assigned a reading assignment AND homework over the reading. The next class he'd "kindly" ask if we had any questions, maybe say a little bit about the topic but he would never actually WORK A COMPLETE homework problem the entire semester- and when asked to do so, he refused!

Quality of teaching very low, and gives poor evaluations of student knowledge. Exams not representative of material covered in class.Expect misleading or 'tricky' questions on exams. Instructor is aerospace department head. No student evaluations given for class. I would not recommend this instructor.
