Dr. Marron is a wonderful person. But not a great teacher. I don't think I'd ever been more stressed in my life. However, looking back on it, I'm glad she pushed us. We finished 20-page research papers and a portfolio, which professionals reviewed one-on-one with us. It's worth it to take her for 500, if you can handle tons of stress.

Dr. Marron may have high expectations/standards, but she really is one of the best at CMU. She really cares about her students. Get to know her, stand out from the others, and show that you're trying. She likes to see that her students are passionate about their work. You can miss some classes, but be careful and use your judgement. AP Style a must

Really nice and helpful. Actually read the AP Stylebook, and keep up with current events, you'll be quizzed frequently. ALWAYS spell check your work, a misspelled noun results in a zero on an assignment. She's a fair grader, but it's not an easy A. Show up to class and do the assignments, and you'll be fine.

Marron comes off really mean, but she honestly cares about her students and wants to help you. Pay attention in class, participate in discussions, and read the ap stylebook. She is a fair grader - if you make a lot of mistakes, you'll get a low grade. She teaches like a college professor, not a kindergarten teacher like a lot of CMU profs.

All I have to say is "UGH". Talks forever about nothing, then throws work at you expecting you to know how to do it automatically. Constantly ripping on the whole class about how the writings only get worse. I dont even bother on work anymore cause she just assigns "75" for EVERYTHING. Made me almost want to switch majors.

She was a little unclear about her expectations of the class, but she doesn't grade as hard as she pretends to. She's an interesting person... go and talk to her in her office.
