I've had Mendoza for 3 classes - If you don't mind a hands-on environment, and few lectures, she's a fine professor. If you aren't interested in pursuing video production as career, avoid taking her, though she really does know what she's talking about.

Comment:

She makes you sit in alphabetical order in a huge lecture room & makes you write all of the questions/clip analyses/film reviews in single-spaced font, so you need to write A LOT to get a good grade. She doesn't give back grades, so you need to go see her to find out what you have, & she also gives the first exam without ever teaching any material.

WORST professor in Bloomsburg. Each paper must be at least 3 pages single spaced in order to get a remotely good grade. She doesn't give back exams, so good luck trying to figure out your grade in the class. Honestly, impossible. DO NOT take this class with Mendoza.

Literally the worst professor I've ever had. Makes you sit in alphabetical order in a lecture class, refuses to hand back grades and doesn't put anything online. Her two exams are based on a 25 page vocabulary review sheet that she never even teaches you. Relies on videos about the material and vapes in front of the class. So unprofessional.

She is absolutely ridiculous. She has you write a film critique at the end, but there are so many rules, that it it basically impossible to write. You can't use a movie unless pre approved because it's an automatic failure YOU HAVE to include a SCREEN SHOTTED word count, and minimum is 1200, but 1200 exactly is an automatic failure as well.

I have never been so appalled and disgusted by a teacher/professor. An extreme lack of professionalism was evident from day one. VERY disorganized individual. Doesn't give back grades. Very difficult to understand her accent. Grossly rude to students. 20 page review sheet for exam 1? She also smokes *during* class. AVOID HER LIKE THE PLAGUE!!

She doesn't stick to her syllabus at all, is never clear with her instructions, her accent is hard to understand, expects a lot with the clip analysis, and her exams are unnecessarily hard.. If you take this class be prepared to write A LOT! You'll learn to get frustrated with her on a daily basis.. Good luck with this class.

She is the worst prof. I've had. She often loses students assignments and then will tell them they never turned it in. She is incredibly disorganized, doesn't follow the syllabus. Does not give feedback, grades, or study guides. You won't know any of your grades until the end of the semester. Does not lecture material but still test on it.

This class is super easy and you really don't need to stay the whole class because she's so frazzled she doesn't always give quizzes at the end of a film. All you do after the first class is watch movies, then turn in questions for it the next class. The test was A LOT of information but not terrible if you studied. Good class, she just grades hard

Mendoza is the worst teacher I have ever had. She is not clear with anything,no rubrics or grading policies and she doesn't grade based on the policies.She also has no respect for her students. She will tell you the day of that she moved your final exam. She won't show up to meetings, she doesn't give anything back and she can barely use a computer

DO NOT TAKE CINEMA APPRECIATION WITH HER! horrible. Not an easy grade whatsoever. Don't even know grades until the end of the semester. So many papers on movies... She takes ridiculously hard questions from other "film study" classes. Horrible. Don't do it!!!!! Final paper is single spaced... 9 pages that took me 6 hours.

Horrible professor, doesn't actually teach, we just watched movies and did our assignments each week. She loses students' assignments left and right and is super picky about grading considering she never actually teaches the material you need. The only perk is that you get to watch movies for class.

She's a cool lady who never uses a textbook. She can be unclear about what she wants done, so rely more on other students than her in that aspect. Basically if she likes you and you just do your work, you'll do good.

I did not have her as a professor, but she was my advisor. Not only was she extremely RUDE to me, but she also scheduled appointments with me, wrote them down in her planner, and then never showed up. THREE TIMES. She also completely screwed up my major requirements at Bloom and is one of the reasons I transferred. AVOID IF POSSIBLE.
