Dr. Goldthwaite is the sweetest professor. There aren't that many large papers/assignments but she gives a ton of time for the ones she has; she's also a super fair grader. Worst part of the class is the end of year presentation. Would definitely recommend Dr. Goldthwaite to anyone taking English 101 at SJU!

I've never dealt with a professor who cared more about how my paper turned out. The class itself was great. It was a nice chance to have your work read by people other than your professor and it drives you to try harder. The only downside was that with its small size, she would look at you like you killed someone because you're a minute or two late

Dr. Goldthwaite is one of the best English teachers in the department. You are assigned reading pretty much every class but it isn't a lot. If you read and participate you will do fine. She gives 5 essays ( a few 1-3 pagers and one 4-5) and gives really good feedback on where to improve. Highly recommend!!

Dr. Goldthwaite is one of the sweetest professors at SJU. She is a fair grader, and gives clear criteria for all of the papers. No final, just a presentation. Never any quizzes, as long as you do the reading -- would definitely take her again! She's the best!

Dr. Goldthwaite is a hidden gem in the English Department! Come prepared to read and participate for every class meeting. If you're interested in pursuing a career in writing of any trade, she's a can't miss. Her poetry and nonfiction workshops are phenomenal experiences even if you're unsure about the genres.

Very nice teacher, feel as if she has never yelled in her life. Passion for material, and looks for class to participate (helps grade but lack of it doesnt hurt). I didnt talk more than two times and did well on the four papers assigned (nothing compared to other classes), and recieved a B+. Presentation for final, easy class.

sweet person and means well however the class can get boring if youre not into the material. she likes it when people participate and give opinions in class. if you do the readings and participate youll get through the class without falling asleep. besides that shes an easy grader and a VERY nice and helpful person who cares about her students alot

Very personable teacher. If you have a problem with something, just ask her. Simple. She really is on your side and wants to see you do well. Very sweet lady, very negotiable with deadlines. She's a little quiet and reserved, but she opens up after a few classes. Bottom line: she's there to help you.

A very nice lady. She can get a little boring in class. A lot of reading as expected for text and contexts. i only did like half the essays because i suck at writing and am lazy, and i still got a c+. I also took a writing centered class by mistake and she was very understanding.

Such a sweet lady, she does seem shy, but she loosens up as the course goes on. She is an easy grade if you have previous experience in analytical writing (poetry and essays). She's always available for help and is very clear. Take her if you have a choice.
