Comment:

This class was about an interesting subject but lectures were very very boring. He is a nice guy though and is very smart. He hands out a sheet at the beginning of every class outlining the readings, so if you just study those, you'll be fine for the midterm and final without doing any reading.

Comment:

Prof. Hayes is great! I would highly recommend him. He lectures a lot but always hands out sheets with exactly what he is going to say and they are very easy to follow. Super interesting if you like politics.

Comment:

Professor Hayes is a brilliant political scientist and an okay lecturer, but he makes up for his erratic teaching style by giving out very brief, but detailed summaries of the readings at the beginning of class to attempt to stay on topic. The only graded assignments were the midterm, final, and term paper, so you've gotta be on top of your game.

I think Hayes is extremely underrated on here. Lecture-only class and your entire grade is 3 tests. He is extremely clear and his tests are based off the material covered in class. Very knowledgable and he runs the DC study group so it helps to take his class if that interests you. I think he is funny but I don't have the best sense of humor

If deciding whether or not to go on the Washington Study Group with Professor Hayes, you should absolutely do it. While you are super busy in DC with your internship, Professor Hayes understands, and therefore doesn't make classes too difficult so you can focus on making the most of your time. He's also just fun to get to know and be around.

Prof. Hayes can be very dry in his lectures. He often goes on tangents when he speaks, making it hard to follow what he says. His test are generally fair, but he can be a bit unclear. Helpful to know about the U.S. Government before you take this class.

Prof. Hayes is a great teacher. He's nice and he's helpful and he's sensitive to student problems. He's got a lot of knowledge, and often goes on tangents, but the tangents always line up with his lesson plan. The trick is following him.

I will never take a class with this professor again. My entire fsem stopped doing the reading after the 2nd class, since we never covered it. He goes off topic easily, talks about his religion a fair amount, and does not teach. ever. Huge disappointment.

boring lectures- though he knows alot about congress, his handwriting is eligible and he goes off topic daily. his grading system is so ludicrous that everyone gets Bs and no one can possibly get an A...its hard to explain how illogical and unfair his system is in this short a space...would absolutely not take a class with him again

Professor Hayes kinda sucks. His lectures are a guarentee nap sesh and you can't stay awake even if you want to. He writes in the smallest handwriting ever to ensure no one can read it. He grades like an ass, cause apparently an 83 is a C+. The rumors are false, prof. Hayes is worthless and proves why tenure is ****.

Hayes makes his opinions clear on every topic, almost too clear at times, but he's actually a great teacher. He's goes on tangents all the time, but they're interesting tangents. He always makes fun of himself which is funny. He's "A's with Hayes" if you make sure that you write the way he wants
