Comment:

Micol is the most amazing professor I have had in my whole life. Taking a class with her will change your life. You have to want it though. Definitely don't take her class for an easy A, or if you're not willing to put in the work. Concept and intent is crucial. She knows everything about everything so you will never pull a fast one on her;

Comment:

Video art lectures were often laid-back discussions and looking at fun things on the internet. However, the projects(video editing) sometime took a lot of time but it's fun. No formal note taking, no midterm.

Comment:

Topic of social media was very interesting and fun, and lectures were often laid-back discussions and looking at fun things on the internet. However, the homework took a lot of time and she expected a lot of work. Tests were few but very detail orientated and recall questions (not MC). No formal notetaking, but vocab is key. She expects your best.

Comment:

Always pushes for a better concept (because art today is not empty), meaning you need to have the whole package (conceptual strength, skillful execution, thorough research). She's a wealth of knowledge so there's no BSing a project. Build a good relationship via hard work and asking smart questions and you'll have an ally for all of college.

This class was all lecture, no discussion. I thought college was about questioning things and thinking critically! Not in her class. She'll shoot you down if you have an opinion about a work. Couldn't care less about intellectual discussions. If I have to learn about someone who dug a big hole, at least let me question whether or not that's art.

Comment:

Micol took the fun out of art. She focuses too much on concept rather than skill and effort. If she doesn't like the concept of your piece, you probably won't receive a great grade on it. She also tends to tell students to add things to their pieces and then during critiques she would question why that particular part was added in.

Micol is great. She was very understanding that most of us didn't have any experience with graphic design programs and graded us fairly. However, you MUST go to class and come on time. Attendance is a big part of the grade that you forget about. I'm glad I took this class, I learned a lot.

Comment:

She left her assignments "open to interpretation" but never liked what you presented. Instead, she would pretty much change your idea to fit her ideals when it comes to art. Very hard on everyone in terms of concept. Not too concerned with skill. Although she is nice and can be funny, she will be very mean to you if you do anything wrong at all.

Micol is great! Attendence and timeliness is very important to her, and she expects you to be professional. She's a sweet and enthusiastic person and really encourages students to work hard and enjoy the subject matter. She is also great during office hours. She really takes interest in her students. Definitely recommended!
