Probably one of the toughest professors at the university. Honest in what is expected of the class. Goes through each chapter and points out what you need to know (which is mostly all of it). Does homework problems in class, and tells you what to watch for. Personality wise, he's really funny and cracks jokes every couple minutes to lighten the moo

Hardest prof I have ever had. The material is hard, but his teaching doesnt help. Really nice guy, and very smart. He goes really fast during class. The tests are way harder than the HW. He teaches as though we are already supposed to know the material. Your grade only consists of 5 tests, so there is no cushion if you do bad. Good luck!

He's a great professor. I learned a lot of stuff in both 356 and 357. Just don't slack off on the hw, cause that's pretty much all he covers. One exam can ruin your grade. Write-down/highlight everything he points out in the exercises and book. Really challenging class. The most knowledgeable accounting professor I have had thus far.

Double post: I didn't mean for my post to come out as bad as it did. He's a great guy, and he knows his stuff. I don't feel like he is the best teacher in the world, but not many people are. He does a fine job explaining, but he doesn't have the time to go over why students don't get problems, he only lists that they do.

Hardest class I've ever taken. He loves to pick out detailed pieces of problems to test you on. Any step of a problem is fair game. If you miss part 3, enjoy your D. Don't even worry about part 1. That's like extra credit that is only to be done if you finish early because you get 6 free points, and you're going to get 5 right by guessing.

Very honest and to the point. Doesnt go over the slides, rushes class, goes through the homework for classtime and frequently runs over. He's very nice, slightly funny, only has 4 exams and you'll need to teach yourself. Do the reading and homework and you'll be fine. HW not mandatory, but is if you want to learn the material.

Won't be taking him for 357. I didn't understand, even conceptually, the subject matter. Doesn't care if you understand or not, quickly moves on to next topic. Doesn't lecture, goes directly to assigned exercises. He does work out the problems on the board, which is helpful. His shortfall is going too fast for most students.

Foran is a straight shooter. When he says you have to dedicate 10+ hours a week to studying he means it. This class introduces concepts that have not been discussed in prior ACC classes. I reccommend the study guide as well.

I think he's a great teacher he knows exactly how to deliver the message to student. The material is hard and his test are way harder If u can pass this class the first time then u'll be a good accountant If u can't consider major because accounting is not just getting a grade and passing classes, u must know material to success. He's CPA CMA CFA!

This class has a potential to be very difficult, but you really have to dedicate yourself to learning the material. So many teachers at UMD basically tell you the questions in advance, and make it easy, but for this class you will have to read every word of every chapter and do all of the homework outside of class.

THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE AN EASY CLASS! You must know that this is the weeding out class for acc. majors, therefore, it's going to be extremely hard. He makes you do the homework first b/c that's how it is in a real world situation. Great Professor and overall good guy.

Hardest teacher at UMD. This class was harder than Organic Chemistry, I took both and found the Chem to be less challenging. Professor is confusing. Funny guy and good humor, but terrible teacher, his exams are WAYYY too hard

NOT A BLOWOFF CLASS. He's not to great at explaining concepts. Class time is spent going over homework problems. We only spent about 5-10 minutes going over the chapter. Overall he's a nice guy but not a great professor. Requires alot of study time outside of class. Must do hmwk to do well although it isnt graded.

The material for this class is extremely hard. Do not take it unless you have a lot of time to study outside of class. He only goes over homework in class, so you must learn everything on your own. He is overall an OK person but not the best professor.

This class was very difficult.U WILL spend more than 8+ hours a week studying if you plan on just passing. He lets you know what big problem (about 20+ pts.) he will put on the test. As far as the 20 mult. choice (1pt each) and 20 short problems (3pt. each, mult. choice) your on your own. He is a nice person but that won't help you at all.
