I had him for HIS 3080, 3852, 3860. Very funny, if not focused. He really does know his subject matter but you're more likely to find that out from talking to him after class or in his office than from his lectures. Also read his books if you're really interested in the subject area.

I'm not understanding people complaining about him because you have to write a lot. It's a history class!! Yes you have to write a lot and final paper has to be at least 15 pages with a presentation. Other than that, not much to the class. Yes he does ramble on about golf and movies, but I'm into both so it was not a problem. I'd take him again.

LOVE this professor. took his last fall for 3852 and got an A. i took him this spring for 4900 and 2053 and got an A for both. and these two classes were back to back. from 7:55am to 10:45. word on advice, the more u write on this papers, the BETTER you grade will b. better take him in the fall cause that is officially his last semester.

One of the worst hires at baruch college. this is why the school is a below par school. This teacher doesnt even teach. If you want to pay money for an idiot choose this guy. This is not your average class, but you really walk out of this class with more knowledge than when you walked in. Rubinstein has a lot of insight to EVERYTHING, and he DOES talk about history, the funner side of it!! Amazing professor, shame he is retiring soon. Take him before it's too late!!

first of all let me tell you ..that in his class you have to do a lot of writing. every week there is paper due(15 pages atlest)he is not easy grader as other students mentions. may be he was but i haven't found him easy at all. my advise that some one else his rating is good may be has easy that time but now he is not.

Easy class. Don't have to work a bit in this class. But you won't learn anything because literally this professor ONLY talks about golf. I was absent for 3 days and asked a class mate what i missed. He said more golf! Still stuck at the same topic! Hes a wise man, know his stuff. But he ain't teaching the materials. Boring as hell.

I actually really love history. I spent more time and effort on writing my papers for this class than my english class. I kept on getting the same grades for the paper i wonder why. I doubt he ever read my paper. He rarely talks about the topic and it just makes you wanna skip every class. For those who want to learn history, dont take him at all.

Rubinstein is a great scholar, not that great of a teacher. He's a very interesting person and i share many of his interests but i learned nothing about the subject from his class. He requires a 16pg paper for the end of the semester. He does not stay on topic. He does not tell you what to read for the classes, but you must read the long books.
