Be prepared to hate him the first time you have him, and he'll probably make you cry at least once. He's hard as all get out, but he makes you earn your grade and he really knows his stuff. Extremely intelligent man and an excellent teacher. If you want to succeed in graphic design, he's the way to go.

I've taken Mr. Murphy for 2d, painting, illustration, and will be taking him for many more. He has a solid understanding of the field, and gets good work out his students. He is also hilarious if you don't mind getting picked on. It's true he doesn't give you clear answers to your problems, but he wouldn't be doing his job if he did.

He is an awesome teacher, he's a very fair grader, if your work is goat ****, he will tell you. If you don't think 'out of the box', you will learn how to in his class, you do a ton of research (so be prepared. He has a crazy-cool attitude...and HE'S A BIKER!!!!!

hes a jerk he goes out of his way to humilate you in front of your class. the man has no shame and no heart. if you take him the best thing you can do is to make him feel like his opinion matters to you, ask for his help it makes him feel important.

If he doesn't like your work he will tell you it is "goat ****." I've even seen him draw goat **** on a girls painting. He knows what he's talking about though. But all he talks about is the old masters. I liked the class though.

Scary at the beginning...awesome at the end. He is extremely intelligent and a great artist. Get on his good side and let him pick on you. Take in the good and the bad with an open mind. He might ****you off at times but he'll teach you a lot.
