Comment:

Newton is a great guy hands down. Very liberal, but its easy to look past it. His lectures are amazing to sit through and easy to understand. The papers he assigns he'll let you rewrite in order to get a better grade. He also practically gives you the answers to his essay tests the class before, so its easy to pass.

Comment:

Professor Newton is a very wise man who knows a lot about what he is speaking about. His lectures are very entertaining and are simply "stories" as he likes to call them. He will speak about a story every day and do prepare to write A LOT of notes, but VERY simple to understand. He is also a sweet and kind teacher who is always willing to help.

The man's wisdom is beyond bounds. One of the most inspirational and kindest professor's I've had. Three Papers, he even let's you re-do them for extra points. and 4 tests (including the final) and he gives you 3 groups of questions where one from each is on the test.

Comment:

Terry is a sweetheart! Super smart guy and passionate teacher. Always had cool and random stories to tell the class and I can say I was always interested. Main concern was that I walked away with a very broad teaching of the history we went over but that's ok. I love how he's really in favor of equality across all social spectrums.

Great teacher if you agree with everything he teaches. If not, prepare to be exasperated. I had to describe me "feelings" about the 2008 election while sitting in a circle in his class. Be wary, if center-right to conservative, a lot of white guilt, culturally relativist, and anti-Republican comments will be coming your way.

He's very passionate about borderlands class. Very knowledgeable. Funny. Very Easy grader. The kind of teacher who will stay and talk to you after class without you asking him to. On his portion of borderlands I probably had a 95. He wants you to write straight forward, don't try to make it fancy. Take HIS CLASS!

I love Terry! He is such a stud and his laughs remind me of PeeWee! He is a hilarious man, always woke me up! (I took him in the morning) You must take notes at every lecture in order to end up with an A. His tests are opened ended questions but just study and you will be fine! TAKE HIM, youll love him!

LOVE Prof. Newton! I think a lof of kids will think CULF1320 is boring but I think he makes it extremely interesting. He's very unique, fluent in 3 languages & knows a lot about Mexican & US history. Super easy class, tests are not hard at all. 3 papers. I highly suggest this teacher. I hope to take him again. He also takes students to Mexico!

I've taken Terry for multiple history classes and he is by far, in my opinion, the best teacher at St. Edward's. Not only is he incredibly smart (double doctorate style smart), but he is very wise, kind, and helpful. If you show up to class and pay attention to lectures, you don't even need the book. He is an amazing lecturer...

He was teaching a joint class w/ Prof. Lock. He was sooo much better than Lock! He is a great lecturer and knows his material extremely well. He's extremely friendly, and will even sing to you in class accompanied by his guitar. You will def. have free days. He also has specific mannerisms that you'll come to love (or hate).Take any of his classes!

LOVE HIM! Just go to class, take notes, and study for the tests. He tells you EXACTLY what the questions will be, and he lets your rewrite your papers as many times as you want! DEFINITELY TAKE HIM- EASY A!

Dr. Newton is in my opinion one of the better American Experience professors at the school. Yes, you do have to write papers but they are very short and he lets you resubmit them until you are happy with the grade. He tells you exactly what is going to be on the test so you just have to take good notes and study.

Terry Newton is a great professor, if you want a long, drawn-out version of high school American history. The class is incredibly easy and incredibly boring. The most basic topics are covered and he hardly ever provides new information. He treats his students as though they were children to the point where it is insulting at times.
