Comment:

Hands-down the best person who has ever taught me writing (but you should have a good command of it before you enroll). He takes 10 min out of class to ask how you're doing each day and still gives much to learn and time to relax. You get about 3 papers and 2 short ones. I hate reading, but the literature was appealing, and he isn't a vocab-snob.

Comment:

I was really expecting an honors English class to tear me to shreds, but Pete made this class so enjoyable and Im really glad I got to be apart of it. His use of witty anecdotes and use of light hearted profanity make him a real gem.

I have been writing at a college level since I was a freshman in high school and Pete is the first professor who actually TAUGHT me something new and useful. He destroys every simple-minded approach to writing that high school classes taught us and rebuilds something beautiful. Hands down the greatest professor I have ever had. 100/10 recommend

Comment:

Overall, Pete will make you a better writer. However, he makes you work for it. You get up to three absences, so use them wisely. There is a quiz after every book that you read the day after it is due. (Cannot get through it with just spark notes.) Also one of the toughest graders I have came across, so try to use his feedback to your advantage.

Pete is a great professor. You will do a lot of writing and he is a tough grader. But you will receive great feedback and improve your writing abilities. Pete is always willing to help point you in the right direction, answer questions, and is consistently available outside of class. His classes are not an easy A but you will learn a lot from Pete!

Ah Pete. I learned so much about writing in his class. I liked him so much that Im taking another one of his English classes. They are NOT an easy A. You must work for your grade and CANNOT wait until the day before to write the papers... this is coming from a professional procrastinator. Getting an A in Petes class was not easy, as most got Cs.

I LOVED Pete, he was such a great guy. He made English a class to look forward to. He's super funny. The only thing I didn't like was that he was a super hard grader. A really good paper can maybe get you a high B. Most papers that are written overnight are most of the time C. You really have to put in the effort to make your paper stand out.

i don't understand his grading system at all, there are 5 pop quizzes over the books which i read and still could barley pass the quizzes. As well as 3-4 papers which are almost guaranteed C's. I would not take this class if you are looking to get above a C. In the beginning of the year he guaranteed everyone a C and said some were lucky to get

By far one of the most entertaining, informative, and effective classes I've taken. He will not hand you your grade; you have to work for it, but it is worth taking. Gives great feedback, really wants his students to do well and improve, but he needs to see you put in the work. Cares about his job and in return cares about really teaching students.

English is my second language! Peter was great teacher! He trys to make everything clear and he is there for help! He loves to give feedback for any questions you have! I enjoyed his class and till now I do not know my final grade! :))

This was my second class with Pete. As non traditional student, I was insecure about my writing. There was a lot that I forgot. Pete breaks it down so it's easy to understand. Helps you and encourages you to find your own style of writing. He makes the class interesting. I learned a lot from him, his grammar voice is in my head when I write.

Pete has a huge chip on his shoulder. He can be very intimidating to talk to most of the time b/c he likes to prove that he is smarter than you. He likes to swear, eat in class and put his feet on the table. But will not tolerate sweats to be worn of any kind in class. He's passionate about his job and I did learn from him. I like his bow ties.

Pete really caught me off-guard when I met him; I thought he was full of himself, but he is a very confident person that demands the highest level of effort in his classes. I've always hated English in high school, but Pete made it my favorite class so far this year. It's very overwhelming at times, especially at the start, but I feel like I progressed so much. Expect to read 3 good sized books and write 4 papers in the quarter. Pete is hilarious and makes class very entertaining. Effort goes a long way in this class!
