Animal guy in the 2C series. Very clear on what was what, even on some of the harder topics. Tests were comparatively easy.

Dreadfully boring class. Tests are basically a lesson in memorization. Very little thinking or application. Nice guy just wish he taught a different class. BIS 1B should be removed from the curriculum.

Do not buy the textbook. Tests straight off notes. Difficult, but means were high for our class (75-80%). Subject matter interesting, and he was funny enough to make me want to go to class. I did learn that there are 2 species of Coelacanth in the world. One of my favorite classes so far. I like his accent..."whom, which, why". Take him!

Extremely funny professor. Lectures are not mandatory, but really entertaining. It's almost impossible to sleep. No curve, period. However, his first midterm had a mean of 80%. No textbook + lecture notes = A-. Lots of terms to memorize. Lab is pretty easy.

Lectures were interesting; he kept you interested with funny examples and stories. Tests were all multiple choice- 100% based off the lecture. Half of the class didnt even buy the book (it was 170 dollars). Just study the lecture notes and listen to his podcasts and you'll do fine. Great professor. Would recommend to take him

man wainwright is corny in class--but that makes the lecture more comical. the bonus questions the last week of lecture were nice. class was pretty straight forward, lots of repitition and memorizing. i still can't believe my 92 was an a- tho....

He's a great professor. Tests are directly from notes/lecture, so there's no need to read the book (at least I never did). He keeps lectures interesting and has random stories during them. Funny guy :)

Tests are strictly off of lecture...but then again there is a lot of lecture material. Sometimes he pulled weird stuff like how many species are there? or how many birds were on the islands...(etc). Stuff that I wouldnt consider important...so basically, just memorize....EVERYTHING, especially phylogeny stuff. lab is cool, practical was tricky

Powerpoint lectures w/ handouts. Tricky to figure out what to study for exams. Lab portion is full of depressing dissections, but interesting. Quizzes each lab, so stay on top of it. Interesting side stories in lecture.

is SUPPOSEDLY easy but he won't tell u what to study for. exams were all surprises. asked him for a study guide but doesnt have one. no hints or tips on how to study. if u get an A, u either know everything or u studied the right stuff coincidentally.
