after reading previous reviews on Burton I thought taking him would be horrible but he's actually really easy going. always gives makeup opportunities but you have to be in class at the time he offers, there's one big group project we work on all year and the rest is easy computer assignments. midterm and final exam are the only tests. easy A

You have to attend most lectures. There's a huge group project due that you work on all semester, then you present it at the end of the semester. He also has a bunch of assignments due throughout the semester, as long as you turn those in you'll get full points. He isn't very helpful.

Mr. Burton is a nice guy, sometimes. The class is very easy, and it almost seems like a waste of money. Be prepared to do group projects whether you like it or not!

I enjoyed the class. Burton is a pretty cool guy, his assignments can sometimes be difficult, but if you do what he asks, you'll be alright. Not too hard to get an A, just show up to class and do what he asks.

Here's the deal with Burton: he is very particular for his assignments and is a tough grader but if you just do what he asks, the class is easy. I enjoyed talking to him and having him as a professor, what a guy (catch him on smoke break). Majority of his class is working in your teams for a final project, challenging but specific guidelines.

CIS200 is a general education requirement at missouri state. Burton is an easy teacher. He gives out assignments and gives you a few days to do them. They are easy and as long as you follow instructions, it is an easy. The only thing that sucks is that a big part of your grade is a group project at the end of the year. Group projects are stupid!

Burton is not a good teacher. His lectures are extremely boring and common knowledge. You do one big group project and it sucks. Its very boring and stupid. I do not recommend.

Burton is a pretty boring guy. Lectures can be dry but the course is pretty easy. Its almost all group work so as long as someone knows what theyre doing youre golden

DO NOT TAKE-never available outside of class. I scheduled a meeting and he didn't bother to show. Very rude every time I spoke to him, and when I witnessed him speaking to others. Lots of homework that he doesn't mention. You MUST show up to every class - attendance will be a factor he uses to determine if he wants to help your grades or not.

I liked having Burton as my prof for CIS200! He treated the class professionally, the whole semester is dedicated to working on a group project and excel assignments. The group project presentation is your final but it's not very hard. He takes a while to put in grades but you should get 100% on assignments as long as you turn them in on time.

You do one large group project and everything else is two tests and excel practice. He is kind of confusing sometimes and moves fast. He tends to have assignments during class periods so I wouldn't miss the lab days. But lecture days aren't important. You just have to be on top of things and if you're not then its hard.

He is very strict. No cell phone use. He was very rude. Easy class, but it requires group projects and a group presentation in final (which isn't difficult and you get to work on it in class), but not favorable. Easy course material. Had an issue with making up an assignment for an excused absence- wasn't willing to work with me.

Burton has been one of my favorite instructors at MSU. I took his CIS 200 and 201 classes and enjoyed them. He really just wants to see his students work hard and learn. 1. Do the weekly assignments. 2. Study for the quizzes, midterm and final. 3. Show up to class and participate. 4. Treat the class like it's a business meeting.

Had a mid A on the last day of class, he gave us a 10 question quiz worth 95 points. This dropped my grade to all the way to a B. 10 questions worth 95 points? Makes no sense. Also, the quiz was over questions that were not even relevant to the class. Not fair.

Burton is one interesting dude to say the least. One day he came in with sunglasses with a black eye and said he "fell eating his Jimmie Johns". That aside showing up everyday and doing the assignments will get you an A. Talk to him at the end if you're on the border and he'll most likely help you out.

One of the worst professor I have ever had so far. Never will reply to a email, but loves to spam them himself. Never tests on what he teaches. And is terrible at explaining the homework assignments be prepared to self teach in 200 I would see if there is any other teaching CIS 200 or CIS 201 because you would not want him teaching you anything

Burton's a nice guy and he cares about his students and class, but almost too much for a gen ed. He's strict on late work, although he did have extra credit available. He notices and takes attendance. Sometimes it's hard to meet him during office hours as he can be late/isn't there, but overall he wants to help you if you're putting in the work.

I would never take him again. Does not respond to emails, and never makes anything clear. I missed two assignments because I was super sick and at the beginning of the year he was fine with late work, even stated that. Now refuses to let me turn work in. But picks his favorites that are usually guys and would do anything to help them. NEVER AGAIN
