Feelings, Smeelings. Dr. Asher is a good professor, she was informative, knowledgable and actually has a rich life outside of Queens College. If you are lazy and dull-don't expect anyone to be impressed.

Overall, the Art ed program at QC is quite lacking. Be prepared for little to no advisement. Rikki Asher will love you one minute and hate you the next. THe last comment about double standards is correct. she plays favorites in and out of the classroom, and has little patience for those who get on her "bad" side-very two faced.

Of all the teachers I have ever had that were directly responsible for my adeptness in my field, Dr. Asher made sure that I was completely prepared to be the very best I could be. Every course of study ended with a complete portfolio in that specific area that enabled you as a student to then become a consumate teacher.

I really like Ricki Asher as a teacher. I dont agree with the comments saying she's angry & rude. She's calm, understanding & intelligent. Most of all, i like how she connects the content of the course to real life situations a person would have in their job. Its practical and helpful.

Admitting you don't know something and that you'll get back to the class later..is not a crime. What is a crime is to give misinformation. When Dr. Asher doesn't know something--which happens often..she gets totally flustered...and then very nasty. She needs therapy!!!!

Dr. Asher is an angry woman. She takes out her issues on her students. She is especially nice and often inappropriately flirtatious with males. Often rude and unapproachable. Have had many wonderful experiences with other professors. This one has issues! Double standards galore! Try NOT to take her.

There is no doubt Dr. Asher is a tough teacher but she is fair to all students who work. Slackers beware she is on to you and so she should be. I've personally had enough of watching students do nothing and get good grades while I work my ass off. It's refreshing to see a teacher notice the efforts of students who actually work.

Prof. Asher blends craft (she's a gifted artist) and intelligence (she's a learned scholar, and journal contributor). Asher listens to her students (hell, she listened to me when I disagreed with her!), elicits responses when necessary, and treats student-fools (and there are a lot of 'em) with more respect than most deserve.

Plays Favorites. You need to be an actor to take her class. If you slouch or give the impression of being disinterested she will hold it against you. She hates it if you kiss up too much too. Just blend in and act the part of an interested student-Otherwise your grades will suffer. Very conescending

Yes, it's true she didn't go over being observed. All she concentrated on was writing lesson plans. That's important, but more important is what your supervisor looks for when observing you (like questioning skills and closure). Did not prepare us.

I was there '96-wish she'd gone over observations & what they'd look 4-I had no clue. She should've explained how it's close 2 impossible 2 find an art teach. job. Unorganized-expected u 2 keep up w/her as she changed objectives in the assignments.

Dr Asher expects a lot from her students, but I felt that if you put in the effort it was a rewarding experience. I have noticed that she favors male students over female...I wonder if the negative comments here correlate to female students....

Dr. Asher is a professional trying to train future professionals. I learned a lot about myself as well as Art Education from her. If you do the work and make an effort to improve yourself the hard work will pay off. I owe my career to Dr. Asher.

Dr. Asher expects the best. She can spot someone trying to skate by. What you mistake as being rude is her telling you straight. Most people cannot handle that. I do agree she is impossible to meet with face to face.

No prob w/ amt. of work, but unclear w/ instructions, deadlines... Gets flustered, then gets rude. She'd rather pretend 2 know b/c she's 2 insecure 2 admit otherwise. Condescending about what she thinks is an error in form/spelling when she's flat wrong!
