After all these years, I'm glad to see one of my favorite profs is still at SCSU! If you pay attention in class, he'll teach you great stuff because he's one of the most passionate instructors I've had the pleasure of learning under. You have any questions, he'll help you understand. - Mr. Sireno (an ANTH Degree 1989 SCSU alumnus )

Very nice guy and personable. Great mustache! Very knowledgable and loves teaching. Only 2 papers and a small final. Bought all four books but he summerizes the reading in class so you can get away with not buying them. I recommend this class. It gets you thinking outside of your box.

Was mildly interested coming into the class, even more so now. Professor Lavenda is a great teacher, his knowledge is seemingly endless and his passion for his subject is immense. I would anyone and everyone to this class no matter their intended major.

Lavenda was a really good professor and always let the class ask questions before, during and after class. If one person didn't get what he was saying he would stop and explain it for them. I would take him again and reccommend that anyone take hime!

tough class. Very uninteresting lectures. He is nice, but the class is just so boring. No assignments except for 3 essay tests and he grades them hard, and online quizzes. You need the book for the quizzes. They are timed and extremely hard. Not taking him again.

Attendance is taken every class period by writing your name and SCSU ID # on piece of paper. Downfall: it is sometimes hard to understand what he is asking for on the essay questions and he goes through the slides fast that you sometimes miss important information were the book doesn't go over. Usually get out 5 minutes early. Highly recommended.

He grades the tests fairly, and as long as you answered all the questions and gave examples you should have at least a 40/50 per question. Class is kind of borring but can be interesting. He shows a couple of movies, usually interesting, he was gone only twice but he got substitutes on those days. Otherwise he is helpful and answers your emails.

Grade composed of several timed online quizes (they are hard) and 3 essay tests, 2 questions each. He gives you 5 questions a week before the test and for the test he'll choose one of those questions for everyone to answer and he'll choose 2 other questions, and you get to choose which one of the two to answer. Does dock point for spelling errors

Lavenda is very interesting and humorous. He's thoroughly familiar with the subject and will enlighten you in so many ways. The class requires a lot of reading tho, and you'll have to write some short papers. The main problem is that he's very unclear in what is required of you in the work that is assigned. Still, I loved to listen to his lectures.

Bobby Lavenda is AWESOME! There are a lot of required readings, but in the upper level classes he pretty much spells everything out for you so reading isn't as crucial as everyone says. Also, all his tests are essay past the 100 level classes but that is better since most of cultural anthropology is opinion. I had no interest in Anthropology whe

Fair grader, articulate speaker. Lot's of studying and writing, quiz @ week, essay exams= study 5 essays/test on 2 of them(no notes), essays make up most of grade, x-crdt, almost no early leaves. Do-able, but this is not an easy course.

The class was very interesting, but they way that Rob Lavenda tought it was just hard. You didn't know what was going to be on the quizes and plus you read a lot. and the exam are writing, and at first you think it's hard, but it's really easy. If you like reading a lot take this class, if you don't like reading a lot then I would thing otherwise.
