Great Class. The way he grades is kind of confusing, so although it seems like you're failing, you're not. Just ASK him he's more than happy to talk to you and explain anything you're confused about. Also, he'll be really rude if you take everything he says to heart, So DON'T be so SENSITIVE. If you just go with it I guarantee a very funny class.

Professor Gordon is probably the worst professor I've ever had. I'm not just saying that because I did bad in his class either. Everyone did. His quizzes were impossible to understand no matter how much studying you do. His other assignments are all pass-fail so they don't actually influence your grade if you do well. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS.

Syllabus and grading is very vague, lectures were horrible, and tests were designed to make you fail. My biggest regret is taking this class.

He's honestly one of the worst professors I have ever had at UVM. He mumbles, does not post notes to blackboard, and tests have nothing to do with lecture. Avoid him at all costs.. I don't usually do these things but never take a class with..

Really doesn't do his job. He spends the classes either aimlessly lecturing or putting on a random video with NO background or context. It is IMPOSSIBLE to tell what is going to be on his tests. He holds study sessions that are well attended, and reads of random questions that do not relate to anything taught in class . No textbook, so theres that

Great ANTH 21 professor! Made me love anthropology even though I took it as a D2. He is incredibly interesting and knows all sorts of fun facts he dishes out over the semester. He can be a bit intimidating but really is a kind man. Don't take ANTH 21 with any other professor!

I loved Gordon! He is such a cute little old guy and is beyond intelligent. He has so much experience and is very passionate. He was extremely friendly and willing to help me when I struggled outside of class. His tests are horrific. No matter how hard you study you will probably always get a C. But go to the review sessions before exams!!

I'm an anthro minor. I took Gordon's INTRO anthro course and thought he was an amazing lecturer. He's had such unique experiences. When I took his tests, however, the BEST I could do was around a C- (I'm a 4.0 grad student). When I talked to him in person, he was belligerent, unfriendly, and insulting. Everyone else I talked to said the same.

I love Prof. Gordon. He's a quintessential unorganized but intelligent professor. I had him for a course on genocide, and though he's not very clear, he can be helpful if you ask. Take his class if you like unstructured, discussion-oriented classes. If you keep an open mind, and do the readings, you will definitely love his teaching style.

I was really interested in the material, but the class was not so hot. If you are taking Anthro out of interest, I would not recommend his class because it's very difficult. He can be very open, understanding, and "the man", but he almost flunked me due to a misunderstanding in only one of the assignments.

Dr. Gordon is a fascinating person, The material is deceptively difficult. The quizzes are extremely hard, even if you study the material, and the projects are hard to keep up with and very demanding of an introductory class. He is very helpful though, and willing to provide extra credit if it is deserved. Speak to him if you're having trouble

Great guy!! You just need to pay attention and take good notes to understand what is going on in class. He will bend over backwards to help you if you have a question/problem. He gives very positive reinforcement that is very encouraging. Just a wonderful guy

I love this guy. The class itself is not easy- you really have to go out of your way to get an A but he's incredibly smart and interesting. I strongly suggest going to his office hours!! You can get a ton out of his class if you're willing to work for it.

He's an okay dude, but his grading system is unclear. Also his quizzes ridiculously hard. I hated this class, if you are going to take Anthropology 21 take it with someone else.

Eh, not my favorite professor. The projects seem completely ridiculous, but if you pick the easier ones and put in a fairly good effort, they are easy to pass. Make sure to the review sessions for quizzes because he reads the questions word for word from the quiz (bring a tape recorder).

Rob is the man. I missed a bunch of classes and simply didn't do much of the work. I talked to him and he let me change the syllabus. I was able to make the three papers worth 100% of my grade. All I had to do was read the books outside of class and attend office hours to learn about the paper "topic" (very open for interpretation). Boring but EASY
