I was actually interested in Econ because of this professor. He was a great speaker and told really interesting anecdotes about his life that related to the content he was teaching. He talked about topics in a way that made the subjects come to life. He didn't give a lot of homework, mostly just tests and the occasional essay.

This professor is a pretty hard grader and the subject at hand isn't the easiest. Make sure you indeed take good lecture notes and do ALL the extra credit! For me, doing all the extra credit bumped my grade from a B to an A!

He is extremely knowledgable. Listen to his lectures. My advice is to keep your essays as professional and clear as possible. All he wants is information. Don't personify them. He grades fairly and as long as you participate and study you will pass.

Incredible instructor. Had him in the summer. Lectures are clear and interesting, but you have to put up with his strongly liberal/socialist bias (though he is very fun to argue with and appreciates a good debate). Just do the study guide, take good notes, and do the extra credit (it's fun!) and you'll get an A no problem. You really learn a lot!

Awesome professor. He is very interesting to listem to and easy to understand. He is very helpful. Recommend: go to class and take good notes. study notes and study manual for book. he gets alot of his questions form that. do the extra credit. I took him over the summer and had 1301 & 1302 back to back. I learned so much!!! Amazing teacher. Actually convinced me to minor in Economics. I got to B's without extra credit, which raises your grade a full letter. Don't hesitate to take him.

Doesn't get much better then good ol' Bob Young. Really good guy. I took him for macro and micro and got an A in both. I'm not gonna lie its a hard class and you have to study hard to do descent on the tests. I never bought the book or study guide and I did fine, but many people said that it did help. DO the extra credit, raises grade one letter.

Awesome instructor! took him for fall 06 & boy was he helpful! U do need the workbook & text, the workbook is helpful, he uses some of the questions on his tests. Essays for tests were easy, he even looks over them before you have to write them for the test. U do learn Econ crap even if you don't want to I took it w/Govt & Hist, all info overlapped

he was an awesome teacher! i was so scared about the class but i learned a lot. the class was nearly two years ago and i can still recall things he taught me. tests were kind of difficult.. just study and take good notes. i didn't buy the books and i made a B. i highly recommend him!!!!

I took Mr. Youngs Macro and Micro class back to back.It wasn't as bad as I thought.He is a VERY interesting person with many stories to tell.His class isn't hard, but you do have to take good notes and study well for the test. He does give up to 30 pts extra credit. Test are somewhat difficult.I did no extra credit and received 2 "B" 88 and 89 avg.

I took both classes back to back the same night. I thought it would be torture, but those nights were VERY well spent. Most important: YOU WILL LEARN. Open up your ears and soak it up. Even if you're like me and don't jive politically with Mr. Young, you'll still walk away a better person. Christopher Hitchens and Bob Young make Marxism seem cool.
